Other than that, we bought some new toys for the house, and brought others from our apt up there. This is totally doable. We don't have two of everything, we had a diaper caddy, pack and play, and some toys that are left at the second home. It actually sounds like a pretty good idea to get used to taking longer trips as a family. You'll be amazed at how much stuff you need to bring with you! The only potential issue is if your baby hates the carseat. She was sleeping every 2 hours, so she would sleep almost every single car ride. It got more difficult as she got older... probably when she was about 10 months old. Though it all depends on your baby. By 3 months, Xander could easily go 3 hours between feeds, so a 2 hour drive worked out just fine so that I could feed him right before, pop him in the car, drive to our destination, and feed him when we got there. But if your baby eats more often, your 2 hour drive could end up being longer.</p> <p>Also, Xander's pretty easy-going, so he's fine in the car, even on long rides. Other babies HATE their car seats or being in the car for even 15 minutes, so a 2 hour ride might be unbearable for your baby! So from my perspective, I'd say you'd have no problems. I'm not sure what moms with fussy babies would say though. Our son -- first child -- is due in late February, so he will be around 12-14 weeks old when we would start using the house, and we would have it for three months. The plan would be to drive up on Thursday nights and then return home on Sunday afternoons. We will either both have Fridays off, or one of us will have Friday off while the other one works remotely from the weekend house.</p> <p>Does anyone have experience driving two hours twice per week with a 3-6 month old? Are we crazy, or should this be relatively do-able? Any pitfalls we should avoid?</p> <p>Note: I will be going back to work, probably for four days a week, and probably with a nanny, right around the beginning of the summer. </p>
