Thanks for the advice. It's this weekend and they are coming with me. I realized that DH has never had her for more than about 3 hours without help. So it will be interesting to see how it goes for the 8 hour stretches I'm in training. He's great with her but it is a bit different when it's all day.

I'd absolutely take them with me. Is she a good traveler? I'm nursing too so I can easily put myself in your shoes, that's what I'd do if it were at all possible. I am never too far from the baby either because I'd rather just feed her than have to pump wherever I am.

Like others have said, if he is willing and OK with it, I would take DH and baby.

I agree with PP...if he's comfortable with both I'd have him come along

I would ask the hubs what he'd want and let him decide. But if it were MY call, I'd drive and bring the fam with me. It's just easier.

@Maysprout: If he is fine with both, I'd prefer my husband and baby to come with me. It would be less stress for all involved in the long run.

If he's fine with both, I'd ask him to come simply because I wasn't away from Wombat for more than 6 hours (probably less) until I went back to work. Once that happened, it was so hard being gone for those extra hours. You need to wean yourself from LO just like whenyour breastfeeding relationship is weaned.

Yeah, I'd probably let my hubs make the call. Honestly, I think he'd probably rather drive the 12 hours than be stuck with a baby by himself for a weekend :)

If it were me, I'd present the two options to my husband and ask his preference and ultimately let him make the decision.

The longest I've ever been away from LO is 8 hours. She's 6 months old now but only eats a little bit of solids so is still mainly breastfed. I have to go to get trained for a class I'm going to teach and the training lasts fri evening and is most of the day saturday and sunday. The training takes place 6 hours away by car or plane (it's just as long by plane because of the transfers).

They will pay for my flight/hotel, however, I'm pretty sure they will give gas money if I choose to drive. If I drive my husband seems willing to come with me though he's writing his thesis when not doing experiments so it would be a long trip for him and he'd be pretty busy on baby duty.

So should I have them come with, which would make it easier to breastfeed or leave them behind and hope a family member could come help him out over the weekend, I'm just afraid she'll be ballistic and no one will get any sleep since she usually eats less when I leave her and waits for me to come home to nurse
