My 4 yr old has field trips to the animal park, sno cone place, ceramic center, science museum, skating rink, etc. this summer. They take a school van with boosters and have to be older than 4.

No field trips but they have special activities planned all throughout the summer. The first day of summer session they had a bounce house. They also have a different theme for each week. Last week was pirates, they had a visit from tinkerbell and a treasure hunt on Friday.

@MamaG: what are the rules?

@KayKay: yup, our center has a "short" bus and all kids under 4 need to have a car seat. We still send our daughters even though she's 4! :P

DD1s preschool did monthly field trips during the school year, but none during the "summer camp" sessions. Her old school in CO did awesome ones every 1-2 weeks -- a trip to a family's farm/ranch, one to Glenwood caverns, one to a rose garden/amphitheater, a nature hike/picnic around a mountain lake, etc etc. Plus a water day every weeks. It was amazing.

They also rented out passenger vans and used their carseats/boosters to transport them, so I felt a LOT more comfortable with them taking trips farther away (30-45min). Here they just use school buses, so I wouldn't feel great about a bunch of preschoolers going much farther than 10-15min down the road.

No trips, state law makes transporting kids under 5 challenging. They do have a lot of activities though. This month they had pony rides, train rides, a magic show, a performer (music/puppets), outdoor chalk day and splash days.

If your older LO is in childcare for the summer, do they have weekly field trips planned?

DD1 is 4 and for the month of July they've got a trip to the splash pad, movies, big playground by the park, a park picnic, ice cream truck coming to the center and a BBQ planned where there is a big bounce house and everything.

I'm pretty jealous!
