Popping in from April to say thanks for this thread!

I also lot a bunch of weight (40 pounds) before getting pregnant, and I'm worried about gaining. I'm up more than I would like at this point (I'm 14w2d and up 10 pounds!) but I'm hoping it will level off here soon. I ate SOOOO many carbs during the first tri, and my nausea still isn't gone. But I'm starting to feel a bit better, so I'm trying to cut down the carbs and eat more fruits and veggies. Still, this is really hard, because now I'm hungry all. the. time!

Anyways, I hope it's OK if I come in here every once in a while. It's hard to stay on track and hard not to worry. I just want a healthy baby and a healthy me during the next 6 months!

I was a March 2013 mama and wanted to drop in to say, you're all doing great! I gained 40 pounds which was above the recommended amount but I lost it very quickly. I was so worried about it, but thankfully my doctor was fine with it and never said anything about it. Best of luck to you all!!

@ScarletBegonia: It sounds like you're doing AMAZINGLY!!! I am so happy that full fat dairy is a good thing, because like you, grilled cheese sounds amazing ... and so does sour cream: on everything! :) Go mama!!

Hey! I'm getting on towards 19 weeks now and last time I weighed in I was up about 10 pounds from pp, and i've stayed fairly steady at that weight since 13 weeks. I know I'm getting bigger cause my clothes don't fit anymore, but I've been making a conscious effort to eat more healthily and I've really upped the fruit and veggies, and cut back on the carbs since morning sickness is now a distant memory. I make sure to include plenty of health fat, like nut butters, avocados and full fat dairy. I've also been going to pilates more often and trying to walk every day that I don't go to pilates. Anyway - I'm hoping if I can keep up these habits I'll keep gaining at a low but steady pace. Sometimes my appetite is out of control though, and it feels like the only thing that will satisfy me is a million grilled cheese sandwiches!
Hope you are all doing well :)

@ScarletBegonia: I'm not due your month (January, here), but I wanted to thank you for sharing!! I was attacked a few months ago about a weight question ... I was just scared that I was going to balloon (because that's very much how my body works). That being said, I'm 27 weeks, and have gained less than 10 pounds (although, I have my next midwife appt. next Tuesday and I'm sure it'll be closer to 15 or 20). Overall, I just know that if I'm eating healthy (for me and baby), and walking/doing yoga, then I'm doing what I can!! Best of luck!!

How's everyone's weight doing? I'm almost 16 weeks and up 6 lbs. My dr. seemed happy with that at my last appt. I bought a couple of prenatal exercise dvd's off of Amazon to try to get toned up a bit. As far as cardio, a leisurely walk with the dog is about all I'm doing. I'm just happy to have some energy back!

Well I'm 16 weeks and within 10lbs of my PP weight, though I don't really watch it at all. My MW said she doesn't plan on weighing me at every appt, she just asked me to eat healthy and knows that the baby will take what s/he needs. I'm really trying to just be smart about it and not stress like I did last time. I ended up gaining 30lbs with my first and it was all fine in the long run.

I'll join! I am almost 14 weeks with my second pregnancy. LO is currently 14 months and I really worked my booty off between pregnancies so I got down to 11 lb. less than my pre-preg weight with number 1.. I have been exercising 4x/week, but having been eating horribly (carb city). I am up 7 lb now. I really want to control my weight better with this pregnancy, but not sure its possible. Hopefully, I will be able to tolerate a meal with a few less carbs here pretty soon :)

I'm 16 weeks now and I'm kind of struggling to figure out how much I've gained. I'm usually in a 4 pound window when I'm not pregnant. This morning I was about 1-2 pounds over the top of that window.

BUT when I found out I was pregnant, I was less than normal because I had the flu, and then finding out I was pregnant kind of shocked the appetite out of me! I think I'm going to go with 2 pounds gained.. but if we go from day I found out I'm pregnant until now - it's more like 5.

@ScarletBegonia: for the first trimester I seriously reached only for things that sounded good. I couldn't help it that it was French fries, chips and m&ms. I'm really going to try and eat better.

Hmm for snacks, I think I'll go pick up some hummus and carrots. Does anyone have a good healthy easy to prepare meal to pack everyday? I'm starting school in 2 weeks and need some help!

I'm so glad to hear its not just me that's worried. I'm really trying hard to make good choices but sometimes melted cheese on crackers or a bagel with cream cheese is the only thing that will fill the hole in my (expanding) belly!
I do pilates twice a week, but thats more strength training (and pelvic floor training!) than cardio, so I try to walk or swim two more times per week, but as I'm only just getting my energy levels back, its hard to fit it in when all I want to do is laze on the couch.
Anyway - let's keep talking about our progress! Share good snack recipes! compain together!

I'm also 16w6d - I've gained about 8 lbs so far, although, since I had gained a few pounds over the summer prior to conceiving, I'm up more than I had hoped to be this early in my pregnancy. I'm certainly worried about my weight gain, but I'm trying hard not to focus on the numbers but more on being healthy. That being said, I've eaten more croissants that I would care to admit. It's a difficult time for sure!

I had also lost weight (about 5 years ago), but was also hoping that I would not go over my "fat weight" either. I'm currently only 9 lbs under my highest, so I know that I will exceed this.

I have made some attempts at fitness as well - prenatal yoga dvd, as well as long dog walks. I wasn't huge on working out before though, so this is actually a lot for me

I'm 13w6d and starting to worry a bit. It's just so hard to tell if you're on track since everyone is so different. I've put on about 3 or 4 pounds so far. Now that I'm feeling a little better, I'm trying to focus on meal planning and balanced meals again. I need to start exercising since I haven't done anything beyond a leisurely stroll with the dog so far. I'm considering joining the gym across from work, but I'm afraid I'd be lazy and not use it, wasting the money.

I understand the scariness of the scale, I worried way too much with my first. This time I'm focusing on making generally healthy food choices and keeping busy (which is easy with a 16 month old). I was still holding onto 7 lbs from my first and I'm 17+4 and have gained 6 lbs.

Hey March moms -
Just wondering how you are all doing with weight gain/loss? In the first 8 weeks I lost about 5lbs, but at my 12 week ultrasound I was up about 10 from my pre-pregnancy weight!!! I think it was partially to do with the doctors scales vs my scales, but still, I got pretty nervous. I lost about 25 lbs prior to getting pregnant and I would love to just get back up to my fat weight during the pregnancy, and not go much higher. Since my 12 week apt I've been eating more sensibly and trying to walk a lot, and I've only put on about 1 lb since then. I know I have to gain weight but I'm so worried about ballooning and not being able to lose the weight after. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be one of those women who gets back into her pre-pregnancy clothes just by breastfeeding and walking with the stroller - it takes work for me, so I'd rather not start from a ridiculous postpartum weight.

Anyway - how are you all feeling about this? Anyone interested in a support thread for healthy weight gain/exercise in pregnancy, esp for the last 3-4 months?

BTW - I'm not very active on the March 2014 thread - I'm 16w6d today.
