The bloat was crazy! I think in my first trim, overall I gained 5 lbs. I'm almost 19 wks now and I think I'm hovering around the 8-10 lbs. range total.

I didn't put any weight in the first trimester but at almost 25 weeks I've popped and I seem to be gaining about a pound a week.

As long as you're not eating poptarts for every meal and your OB is ok with your weight gain then I think you're good to go :-)

@jedeve: The bloat is insane!! My belly is still totally different from day to day so I haven't popped for real yet. If I have a day where I don't eat or drink a lot the bump is gone the next day!

I think it might be water weight - down 4 lbs today and the belly is gone. :-/ Geez, this stuff is crazy. I'm not ready for when the real changes begin!

Plus, I'm pretty sure my boobs are each a pound heavier. I was rockin some "barely Bs" before - there is not room for whatever is going on in there! Boobs can't pop, right???

I didn't gain anything first trimester, and actually think I lost a few pounds from not drinking, lol. Between 12 and 18 weeks, I gained 6 lbs. I wouldn't worry about it though--I've heard that weight gain evens out in the end as long as you're not going overboard.

I was also slight, at 5'0" and 108 pounds pre-pregnancy.
At 10w5d, I gained 5 pounds.
At 39w6d, I gained 44 pounds (I delivered on my due date).
I never felt like I was "eating for two" and was extremely frustrated with my weight gain. The last 4 weeks of pregnancy I finally let myself eat cookies/ice cream/desserts because I figured I was well over the 25 pounds they said I should gain anyway, and I wanted to be able to say I got to eat like a pregnant lady.
At 1w pp, I didn't lose ANYTHING (baby was 8lb 2oz)--most likely from being on IV fluids for 5 days.
At 3w pp, I lost 25 pounds, 19 to go.
And now, I'm 4w pp, and I lost 29 pounds, 15 to go.

I didn't get GD. I was nauseous through about 20-24 weeks or so.

Enjoy eating while you can...you might miss it. I have put on nearly 30 lbs and will be 30 weeks on Friday. First tri I never had morning sickness, but nausea would get to me every once and a while. Second tri flew by and only a few weird food aversions, but everything gave me horrendous heartburn. Third tri...and now I take about 4 bites and I'm stuffed.

I think I was at about 10 lbs at the end of the first tri. Having twins, but that early, it doesn't really change anything weight wise.

Throughout the pregnancy, I've had bouts where I'm starving and other times when I have to choke food down, sometimes I have lots of energy to exercise and other times not at all. Just listen to your body, it'll tell you what you need, and it'll all balance out.

I also don't think weight gain alone predisposes you to GD, it's more how your body processes the food you're giving it. I've gained nearly 50 lbs now and passed my test with flying colors. I'd say I eat mostly healthy, but I've had my fair share of refined carbs too :)

I gained 12 pounds in first trimester! (Same explanation why as Mrs. Tricycle.....the rest of pregnancy I felt well enough to eat and mostly be as active as normal). But only total of 25 by the end of pregnancy, and at 2 months PP I am back to pre-preg weight.

My first trimester I gained 4 lbs, and I gained 25 lbs total the entire pregnancy.

I wouldn't worry about it, a lot of pregnant women gain weight in spurts. You might be up 9 lbs now, and then stay at the same time for a long time, and then gain 8 lbs in a month. Your body is going to gain what it wants to....don't stress! I don't think you are at risk GD at all... especially because you were in such great shape/such a great weight before getting pregnant.

Also, it could be water weight. 10 weeks is definitely the time I was the most bloated.

I didn't really keep track of the exact amount but I know I gained a decent amount in the 1st trimester. I had a lot of bad food aversions and the only thing that ever sounded appetizing was carbs. I think I ate grilled cheese or pasta for dinner for like a month straight (my poor husband). I knew eating that stuff was probably going to result in weight gain but when you are nauseous all day long you eat whatever sounds good. I was also ravenously hungry all the time- that went on until about mid 2nd trimester. I would finish a big meal and an hour later I would be hungry again. My doctors never seemed to be concerned about how much I was gaining so I didn't worry too much about it. I think you have to listen to your body and don't be too hard on yourself. You try to eat healthy when you can- that's the best you can do.

At 12 weeks, I haven't gained a thing. My doctor said that is fine because most women gain too much weight. She said I should gain up to 2lbs over the next month.

If your doctor isn't worried about it.. then you shouldn't be either!

I actually have the opposite problem and was worried because I'm still down 2 lbs and I'm 17 weeks. But my doctor isn't worried about it so I'm not going to stress about it.

All you can do is focus on eating healthy and staying active and your body will do what it needs to do to provide for baby.

I don't remember my exact number but I want to say it was around 8 lbs for the first trimester. I seemed to gain a lot quicker than I thought I should, but it started to even out in the 2nd and 3rd trimester for me. I woke up frequently at night to eat also, but that stopped early in the second trimester. Your body knows what it's doing. I just tried to make good choices when I snacked, and it sounds like you do that already!

How much weight did you gain in your first trimester? I'm 10w4d and I've put on about 9 lbs in a month/pre-pregnancy. I'm kinda freaking out! My OB wasn't concerned, although she did recognize it was a lot. She said she didn't think it would keep up at that rate. She said I just might be one of those women who needs 35 lbs.

I'm pretty slight, but definitely not underweight (125 lbs 5'6"). But maybe my body needed extra fat anyway?

I've been exercising and eating healthy (I'm not binging on stuff just because I'm pregnant!) but I have been STARVING at night. I'll eat a lot before I go to bed (typically - oatmeal or cereal, yogurt, glass of milk, slice of cheese, banana and spoon of PB) and wake up hungry a few times to eat a banana or piece of cheese or yogurt or something.

What's your experience been? I'm worried about gaining weight too quickly and putting myself at risk for GD. But I don't want to freak out either and just let my body do what it needs.
