Totally normal!! Look at Al's weight ... She was mostly formula fed (so, bigger in general). She went from 3 pounds every two months to less than 2 pounds every 3 months. Also, she's gone from 80% on height to 25% on height, and her doctor isn't concerned.

My guess is that she'll pop back up soon. She's going to gaining more muscle, and eating more solids.

It looks like she dropped from 40% to 19% since she has been crawling/eating solids.

We had the same issue. She dropped percentiles (can't remember exact numbers) around 7-8 months. She started crawling around 6 months and has always been a very active baby. She is still at that lower percentile, but has maintained that same curve since the intial drop. She's now 19 months old.

I wouldn't worry. My LO dropped from 40th percentile at birth to 15th at 9 months, and stayed between 9th and 15th until he was 2--he is just a tall thin kid.

@oliviaoblivia: she is good at indicating when she's had enough, and last week spit up her evening 3oz bottle of pumped milk after nursing- so I'm moderately sure she's getting enough to eat.

Both of my girls had dips in weight gain around when they started walking (9 months) and then were back to normal by 12 months. They both had significant appetite increases around the same time. If you offer more solids will she eat them?

@Mrs. Lion: good to know- at birth she was 80-100 % then dropped to 50 for everything but head size (still 100). Now I'm guessing she's dropped another bracket or two in weight. We thought she was going to be big based on how she was at first.

My son started walking at 9 months and between 9 and 12 months dropped from the 60th% to the 5th% and has stayed there. I was concerned about it, but my doctor wasn't. He said it was totally normal and that kids typically find their curve once they are mobile. As long as he was still moving forward and getting taller too it wasn't a big deal. He is still (at almost 3) in the 4th percentile.

Has she recently started crawling more / being more physically active? My LO definitely had some plateaus whenever she started being more physically active and burning more calories (especially when she started walking).

My daughter is 9 months old. She started on solids at 5.5 mo and really got going on them at about 7 mo. She eats about 12-16 oz of solid food a day and breastfeeds on demand- lately about 8+ times a day. I weighed her this week and it seems she has only gained a few oz in 6-8 weeks. She seems totally normal, is happy, weighs about 17 lbs with chunky legs. We see her Dr 12/20 but I'm a touch worried. Any thoughts/experiences?
