@erinpye: @MrsRcCar: @Leialou: Thanks ladies for all the suggestions! The doctor suggested we start with one ensure per day, and also made some dietary suggestions so I can hopefully eat more. Follow up in a few weeks... hopefully I've at the very least not lost anything.

Can you drink protein powder? I had to drink protein shakes daily when I was a teen because I was underweight. I saw you mentioned being lactose intolerant. DH's coworker recommend mixing vanilla protein powder with Orange juice and some ice. He said it tastes like a dreamsicle.

I was never really able to gain weight in pregnancy. I had HG so it is a little different. I found peanut butter and apples to help me not lose anymore weight. Could you try Vegan protein powder? The health food store here has it and my doctor approved it to help me. I will see if I have the carton running around. You could ask your doctor about it.

@2littlepumpkins: poor thing. Add coconut to everything, nut butters, avocado. You can even put those things in smoothies, provided they aren't too high in fiber for you.

@sarac: @erinpye: I forgot to mention lactose intolerance. :( it's temporary but lasted about six months the last time I had this. That and have to be low fiber. I ended up getting an appointment with my GI tomorrow morning so hopefully he has a plan. Last time I had this I lost 30 lbs, but I started out a little overweight.

I have trouble getting enough fat during pregnancy and breast feeding, so I try to get that in wherever I can. Butter on whatever, potatoes roasted in lard, and I'll whip up some coconut cream with a little sugar and vanilla, and eat that with fruit. Or just, you know, on a spoon. Also go full fat dairy if you can stand it.

It is normal to lose weight in the first trimester but I can't seem to stop losing weight and my OB is a little concerned. (The cause is known, I was treated, but still not feeling "normal.")

Anyone have any tips for weight gain? I can't seem to keep my calorie intake high enough without fast food. :(
