@Mrs. Blue: Sounds like you're doing good! fwiw, I gained about 50-55 lbs total, went to 39 weeks, and had 12 lbs of baby. DS was 6 lb 12 oz but DD was only 5 lb 4 oz (she had postmaturity signs, so I think she had actually been bigger). So it's kind of a crapshoot no matter what you do :) But even though I gained a lot, most people were surprised I was carrying twins, and by some miracle I didn't get stretch marks! Getting the extra weight off now though, not so fun.....makes me wish I had eaten a few less bowls of ice cream!

Just stumbled upon this thread. At 24 weeks, I've gained 16 pounds. My OB is super happy with my weight, but like you, I feel a little conflicted because I read the Dr. Luke book, too, and I always have the running thought of 24 lbs by 24 weeks in my head. I obviously want to do whatever I need to do to get my babies chubbed up, but it's hard to know since so many doctors seem to have mixed opinions on twin mama weight recommendations.
Sidenote: I was a little overweight pre-pregnancy, so I'm trying to stay on the lower side of the weight gain ranges.

@MerryC: HAHA. I had an 8 lb 1 ounce baby girl 2 days late. Total weight gain was about 50-53lbs and I've lost all but 3 lbs so far. LO's almost a year old.

I would just continue to eat healthy and walk/exercise.
Good luck!! :D

I'm just past 20 weeks and am up 25 lbs from my true pre-pregnancy (pre-ivf) weight. I'm 5'8" and was normal BMI pre-preg. This is right on track according to Barbara Luke's book on multiples, as her research says gaining more at the beginning affects birth weight most. But while my OB isn't yelling at me for it, she's definitely mentioned that I'm on the high side. So I feel totally bi-polar about whether or not I'm gaining too fast! I will gladly gain as much as I need to make these babies chubby, but want to stay healthy too.

So twin mamas, what was your weight gain at the halfway mark? and if you've given birth - what was your total gain and the weights of your babies?
