Has he been sick at all? Did you notice his appetite waning?

I am hyper aware if my son gains or loses, he's 3.

For a kid, I'd probably be concerned with anything more than a 5% difference. Maybe weigh him for a week, at the same time of the day?

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much about that small a change. Weight fluctuates daily by 3-5lbs.

time of day always impacts my weight. I've weight myself before breakfast, and after breakfast, and there has been a 3 or more pound difference. depends on where I'm standing on the scale, if I drank a big cup of coffee, if I went to the bathroom.....

I don't know a lot about weight loss in children, but I do know a lot about scales and they can vary by a couple pounds depending on how you stand on them, how they are sitting on the floor, scale to scale, etc. Maybe it's just variation in the scale?

My DS was 43 lbs at Christmas time (I weighed him because my sister asked how much he weighed and I didn't know).

Yesterday he was in my bathroom and got on the scale and told me "I weigh 398" I was like "no way" so I looked and sure enough 39.8lbs.

Should I be concerned that he lost 3 lbs since Christmas? He is normal otherwise. Just seems like an awful lot of loss for a 5 yr old
