As long as your LO is still having plenty of wet and dirty diapers and is happy and content then you're probably ok! Letting LO have lots of skin to skin and free access to the breast will help get your supply back up if you're still worried.

Hang in there Mama, you're doing a great job!!

You'd know by how many wet/soiled diapers - if it's the same as it was before, then she is getting the same. If there are less wet/soiled diapers then you've probably had a supply dip.

@Silva: around that age, my LO went through a period of about a month (maybe more?) where there was lots of latching on and off, and i could tell that my breasts were not as full. i was worried and didn't know if it was supply, teething, exhaustion (he had recently started daycare). eventually things got better.

in case it is a supply/weight issue, i like the suggestion of adding more healthy calories to your diet. you could also "test" whether it's supply by giving you LO a little supplemental bottle of pumped milk or formula after nursing and see if she is still fussy or whether she drinks it down.

@Silva: Not nursing, just preggo, but I always turn to Avocado too when I need/want healthy fats. Mashed Avocado on toast is a fav :-)

@Silva: I don't think I'd really worry about it, unless baby is super unhappy. Like @Adira, I just assume my baby will eat more and my supply will adjust!!

@shopaholic: yeah...I was having strong let down issues but they have gone away...I was thinking maybe my supply evened out a bit. She does pop on and off a lot.

I've heard from friends that when they started working out/dieting, their supply dropped. I haven't done either, so no advice there, lol.

I EBF, but I can kind of tell when my supply drops because of how full my boobs get. Also, the letdown. Like, usually, I have a strong, fast letdown. Can hear baby gulping really fast, or she'll unlatch for a bit. But when my supply is low, she's tugging at the nipples, punching my boobs, latching and unlatching, and I feel the letdown a lot less strong. HTH.

I don't have any advice really. I kind of just always assume that if my supply does drop, Xander will just end up eating more often and help boost it. Not sure if that's a good assumption to follow though... so maybe ignore me! :)

@blackbird: I probably should work on this. I was eating full fat Greek ought at breakfast, and now I'm just having oatmeal. Time for the nut butters!

If you just cut dairy, could you add in some healthy fats to replace that? Not sure if that would help, just thought I'd throw it out there

@sorrycharlie: thanks. Maybe I just looking for an excuse to eat some fries.
I know the amount of weight loss that impacts supply would be different for everyone. I would just hate for my LO to be hungry!

I'm not entirely sure, but wanted to bump for you. I've lost a ton of weight while breastfeeding and I haven't noticed a supply dip - I'm sure it's fluctuated, but I don't pump so I have no idea. I'm still BFing at 11 months.

How did you know if weight loss or exercise were impacting your supply?
I have lost about 5 lbs in one week, I think because I cut out dairy (tying to see if it resolves some mild symptoms in my 4 month old)

A few times in the past two days she has been more fussy at the breast and in general. Of course she has also just hit the 4 m. Sleep regression, and is teething, so there is a ton of stuff going on for her.

I don't pump, so I'm wondering how I would even know if supply had dropped without a weight check (and I'd like to know before her 6 m appt, obviously.
