We used the personal size of the" birth pool in a box" kit. We set it up in our bedroom, next to our bed and close enough to our master bath. Our main floor bathroom is tiny and narrow and that was a problem I kept running into when picturing the birth tub in the living room, but the bathroom in the basement is much more open (bathroom/family closet/laundry room) and when the thought of moving the whole thing to the basement hit me it just felt right and I was just like, "Yes!" My hubby is an engineer-- so his mind went there, too. Our home was built pre-1900 and we had the tub set up in an upstairs bedroom and had no problem. I never got to be in it because we ended up being a hospital transfer, but we had many people standing next to it once it was full. He did research the weight of a "full" tub of the sort we were using and did some equations to figure it out.
