I would be so annoyed by that comment! I had an "aunt" (no family relation) that commented on how strong the relationship between her daughter (we're close in age) and her husband was. That their relationship has "strong foundation" and it's built on rocks, etc, etc. Which is all good -- but she chose to share this info at the time when I was just getting over a divorce! I was so hurt, I didn't know how to respond. Fast forward a few years and I found out they're divorced and THAT was the year they broke-up. </p> <p>People like that, they have problems and instead of being nice or helpful to others, they're more into convincing themselves there's nothing wrong and feeling like they're "better" in some way, even if it's only for a minute. We're nearly ten years apart in age but she constantly compares us. </p> <p>Her daughter has been dating this guy for less than 3 years and has a 2 year old by him. My aunt made the comment that their relationship is more serious than DH and I's, because they have a child and that maybe people will take DH and I's relationship more seriously now that we're having a child. I think when we got married two years ago, after dating for three years, that clued people into the fact that we're pretty serious...</p> <p>Uhhh what? Everything is a competition to her, which is so annoying and frankly I hope everyone else finds her to be as moronic as I do. She's definitely the peanut gallery in my life. </p>
