Meh, I don't think the dates really matter!

According to my dating ultrasound, DD was conceived on O-4. Sperm can live up to 5 days, so definitely possible!

The later you get in pregnancy the less accurate ultrasound measurements are for dating (i.e. our babies start to grow at their own pace vs a standard one), and there is a degree of imperfection in ultrasound measuring. I say this as someone who has done a fair number of these on patients. So maybe the repeated ultrasounds are just getting slightly less accurate. Usually your due date by ultrasound needs to be pretty off to adjust your due date overall. Personally I would go with your earliest ultrasound that sounded like it matched your O date, but obviously your docs know your situation the best. Your baby is just a little ahead of the curve, I wouldn't stress about it, medicine is an art :silly:

@LAZB: I didn't think about that (early implantation), but now that you mention it, it would make sense. I got my BFP at 8 or 9dpo this time. I didn't get a BFP until 11-12dpo with my previous 3 pregnancies (2 DS and 1MC). So that would totally make sense!

@Jess1483: Thanks!!! :heart:

@ValentineMommy: i had this same thing. My due date bounced around from 9/20 to 9/15 and then when i switched Doctors they switched it back and forth. It was a bit irritating because i would think i was a certain number if weeks then they would throw me off by changing it.
In the end i just reminded myself that the due date is really just a good guesstimate that's why they measure from LMP since no one knows the exact day of conception

Maybe you just implanted early. I always ovulate late, confirmed by opks and cm, and was measuring right on with my Lmp this time. I think he just implanted on the early side.

Interesting. My dr/midwife always went by that first scan @ 8 weeks (which was the same as my LMP.

With DS1, I measured right on target the entire pregnancy (although I didn't have an ultrasound after 20 weeks).

With DS2, they never moved by due date, but baby measured ahead the entire pregnancy. I had so many ultrasounds (high risk) and he was always measuring at least a week or two ahead.

DS1 was born at 38w6d. 8lbs 3oz
DS2 was born at 38w4d. 9lbs 11oz

I bet baby probably just measured a bit ahead. My LMP was July 21 but I ovulate really late, between CD 27-30 (I'm due May 10). I always have to prepare them and say "I promise I'm not two weeks behind, I just have long cycles." My first ultrasounds have always been within a day of my calculations, even though they don't want to believe me at first :silly: The next few ultrasounds always have baby measuring a few days ahead.

Based on what my doctor has been telling me, I'd also guess you are measuring ahead. I measured 5 days small at my first ultrasound so my 10/31 due date got moved to 11/5. My subsequent ultrasounds have put me back on track for an 10/31 due date but my doctor's office says the only reliable measurement is that first one so my 11/5 due date is standing firm. They claim that I must have been wrong with my ovulation date but I also used BBT charting and OPK's and if their dates were correct, I would have gotten my positive HPT something like 5 days after ovulation. I'm not putting a lot of stock in my due date. We'll see what happens.

I would guess just measuring ahead. I had a friend whose due date got bumped up by a few days every visit the first half of the pregnancy, to the point that baby would have needed to be conceived while she was on her period for dates to match up. Big babies run in the family though, so I think it was just big measurements.

I'm 21 weeks now (by lmp), and my due date has switched back and forth as well, and my ob isn't concerned at all. She says that as long as it's within a week-ish it's not something to worry about, due dates are really just estimates. By lmp and my u/s scan at 12 weeks, my due date is 2/6. By scans at 8, 9, 16, and 21 weeks, I'm measuring closer to 2/12. I'm pretty sure I ovulated/conceived late as well! I keep worrying about this lo's growth, but my ob keeps reassuring me.

eta fwiw, my ob is keeping my edd as my lmp date, 2/6, though maybe after my anatomy scan at 21 weeks she'll change it again...who knows! the exact size is so hard to measure anyway--on the day lo1 was induced at 37 weeks, she measured 7lbs 1 oz and when she was born she actually weighed 5 lbs 13 oz--big difference! One of the drs told me that the u/s scans are great for seeing extremes, but less accurate within the average range. I think as long as they see growth at a rate they expect it's fine!

@ValentineMommy: Sounds like baby is probably just measuring ahead!! It's interesting they've changed your due date, I always thought they went by the first dating scan. My MFM told me after that they won't change it unless baby is measuring off by a week or more!

This is probably going to sound rambling since I'm off caffeine, so please bear with me.

My due date has changed twice. First, they dated me off of my LMP (July 20), which gave me a dd of April 26. Ok, fine. I had told the doc that I knew I always ovulated late (usually cd16-17), and actually this particular month, even later than my normal (cd19). They said they would adjust my date at my first ultrasound.

When I had my first ultrasound, baby measured exactly right for my O date (not LMP) - so they moved my date back....to May 1. Ok....still with me?

Then, I had my MFM appt (I'm AMA, yay). Baby was measuring ahead a few days. I ended up having a third u/s, and that confirmed baby was ahead again. They decided to move my date based off of these two new u/s. Which brings the date back to April 26th (same as LMP dating).

I don't actually care/worry about the date or measuring ahead a few days. But here's where my question comes in.... DH and I only BDed 3 times during my fertile period... CD11, CD14, and CD19 (which was my confirmed O date). Based on baby's growth being ahead, does that imply that baby was conceived from CD14 even though O didn't occur until CD19? So, 5 days before O?? Is that even possible? Or is baby just measuring ahead and it doesn't really mean anything?

Sorry for the longest post of all time! I'm just curious, I guess. I didn't have any weird dating issues with DS's.
