Yup! I actually asked my pediatrician about this a couple of days ago, and it's normal. LO does this too - she will pee a few times in an hour. Sometimes she wants to get up right away so i make her wait another 30 seconds or so before getting up, just in case.

@Arden: I wish this was our problem. LO hates going to potty. He says that "he's all fine." When I mention that his loveys (Curious George and Daniel Tiger) have to go to the bathroom, he says that they're "all fine" too. Once he gets on there, he's happy and potties, but not at first.

She has great sphincter control! Look on he bright side :). Maybe you can encourage her to sit for longer and/or praise the AMOUNT? When my kids give me a tablespoon I'm like, "is that all??? There must be more peepee in there!!"

@mrsjazz: I'm fine with doing the whole clapping and emptying routine every five minutes for now while she's still "getting it", but I'm hoping it's going to stop eventually because this is not sustainable. lol

@mrsjazz: Three times an hour would be fine by me, but DD is going like 25 times an hour. lol. It's sometimes a teaspoon of pee each time.

My LO will pee 3x in one hour, though I don't think it's for the praise because she'll go a few hours without peeing even though I ask her if she has to potty. Then again, sometimes she wants to go when she doesn't have to use it, so maybe she is pulling one over on us.

@MommySLP: Ok, good to know it will stop eventually.

We use a kids potty because she's so little and she's scared of the big one. I figure the cleaning the little potty is less work than changing diapers, but its still a crazy number of times in a day I have to do this process. :P

@Arden: yup, we went through this too! My DD just used the big toilet with a potty seat so I guess at least we didn't have to do the emptying routine every time, but after about 2-3 weeks she started going longer between. It definitely was exhausting at first though! Good luck!

LO does this too. He likes the whole process of peeing, flushing, and being praised. So he will force himself to pee a trickle, even if he just went. I'm just going with it and treating every pee like a victory.

DD has been learning about the potty over the last few weeks and as of two days ago, has been using her potty exclusively during the day (no accidents!).
We don't do rewards, but we do clap and say "yay!" when she uses her potty.

Now for my question...

She's been peeing like a thousand times a day. She'll pee a tablespoon, clap, call us over to dump it out. Then literally two minutes later, she pees another tablespoon. Same routine. And then again. I'm not exaggerating when I say she's peed eleven times in the last 30 minutes.

I think she's literally peeing as little as possible each time in order to get more praise and applause for more times. lol

Is this normal? Did your kids do this? It is a phase? Should I just keep clapping and emptying the potty a thousand times a day?
