I wear one and I didn't take it out when I took my first morning temp. I just popped that thermometer in my mouth as soon as I woke up! Just like Redsmarties says, I just had to make sure my mouth was firmly closed around the thermometer.

Good luck!

The only thing I would be worried about is whether your mouth is open or not while you are sleeping. I know that my mouth guard tended to keep my mouth open a little, and I found that it really messed up my temperatures. But if its a good fit, and you're sure that your mouth is staying closed, you should be good.

I think that as long as you are consistent with either wearing it while temping or removing it immediately before, you should be fine. Consistency is the most important part of temping.

I wore a mouth guard for teeth grinding, as well. I would take out the mouth guard and pop the thermometer right on in there. If you do the same thing every day, you'll get the same type of temperature, so it shouldn't affect your temp outcome.

Oddly enough - once pregnant, I stopped wearing my mouth guard and found I didn't need it. I took it out at first because of nausea but after that, it seems like I have stopped grinding.

I am taking my last bcp tonight and will start charting my cycle within the next few days (eek!). We plan to start TTC in May or June, so I'm going to chart for a few months beforehand to get a handle on my cycle and hope that my body regulates after coming off bcp.

Anyhow, I wear a mouth guard at night since I'm a teeth-clencher and tend to damage my teeth without the guard. I'm wondering if I should remove the mouth guard before I temp (which would mean I would move around probably more than recommended), or if I should just leave it in (not sure if this will affect my BBT)?

Anyone else out there with this strange predicament?!
