I've was really sick while EBF, my son never got sick when I was sick. The antibodies that you make will really help your LO from getting sick, or not getting it as bad.

I got sick when LO was around.. 5-6 months too (I was sick for about 10 days while DH was out of town!). I kept EBFing her though. She got some congestion as a result, but our Nose Frieda came to the rescue!.

I wouldn't stop BFing. The antibodies your body makes against whatever you've got will be passed to your LO through breast milk. Any in between steps (like pumping, storing in the fridge, etc) diminish the amount of antibodies in there.

Just BF as normal, wash hands a lot, cough into your sleeve- all that stuff you'd regularly do to prevent transmission.

Everything I've read says continue to BF even though you're ill. Generally, if you have something first, your LO probably won't get it if EBF.

Yeah I've heard the antibodies in your milk will protect LO even from a dose you might have at the time. Get your rest and as much fluids as you can, you can always give her a couple bottles of formula for a few days if you're worried she's not getting enough, and your supply will pop right back up to normal once you're back to rights.

hate stomach bugs. just as bad as toothaches. i heard that the babies don't get sick just because you're sick and you should still breastfeed.

That stinks, that stomach bug seems to be going around. I never had to deal with something like that but I did get mastitis with a nice 102 and a half fever so was pretty out of it. My husband would give her a bottle or two of pumped milk a day but other than that she nursed. We had a couple lazier days in bed to help boost the milk supply as I recovered.

Thanks to the stomach bug. I haven't felt this bad in a long time. I EBF my daughter and I chose not to nurse (so far) today because I don't want to get her sick. So I've been pumping and my husband bottle feeds her. Has anyone been sick and still EBF? I just really don't want her to get this. I'm also concerned my supply will plumet because I'm not take in enough calories today (I have only held down 2 saltines and juice). DD is almost 6 months old.
