I usually check the top rated names for the year and if the name is on there (or has been for some years) I tend to opt out. But I know other people don't care and if they love the name, that's all that matters. Fast forward a few years and a certain famous soccer player and his pop star wife had to go and name their daughter the exact same name sparking a huge trend and therefore making my maiden name lose it's appeal.
