No, I don't think so! I had to join the Clean Plate Club at the end of meals....which I don't plan on repeating with my kids. Now, I have trouble walking away from a plate of food if there's anything left on it.

@jessiejo17: My mom did the same thing!! If we didn't like what she cooked for us that night, she always said we had to find our own dinner. Cereal was always my go-to!

I was a picky eater. My mom says she'd have to buy separately prepared meals for me and even then, I wouldn't eat.

DH as a child ate anything and everything. I'm hoping LO takes after her daddy!

I was totally a picky eater! A favorite story of my parents is the time I refused to eat scrambled eggs and kept a bite in my mouth for 2 hours. Ew!!

I also really disliked rice growing up which, being Chinese, was probably more an act of rebellion than an actual dislike!

Now, I eat pretty much anything except for onions.

I was incredibly picky growing up. My poor parents. They always said I ate like a bird. Not so anymore ;)

My parents cooked Korean food every day, and I refused to eat most of it. Sometimes I'd eat it if it were grilled fish, but I have never been able to stand spicy foods, so I couldn't eat most of the stews and things they made. So they'd give in and make me a frozen lasagna or something. I ate a lot of frozen dinners. Kid Cuisines were my favorite.

When we went to Korean restaurants, we'd stop at McDonald's on the way and I'd eat my Happy Meal in the restaurant.

I was super picky! When I hit 20 that completely disappeared and now I eat all the icky "adult" foods. :P

Thankfully my parents never forced me to clear my plate, and I could stop whenever I was full. I'm still a grazer (and still skinny, haha).

Not really. My mom made us eat everything on our plates. Sometimes she would pay us to eat stuff we didn't like! haha. I remember getting 5 cents for each celery stick I ate. I think it worked cause I ended up being ok with celery after a while. I used to HATE it.

I was not a picky eater, but my parents wouldn’t have put up with it if I had been. They made one dinner (no special dinner for kids), and we were expected to eat it. Sure, we could eat more of what we liked and less of what we didn’t like, but we were expected to try everything. Also, they fed us normal “adult” foods from the get-go and didn’t make a big deal about it (i.e., no “wow, that’s so great you like green veggies so much! So many kids don’t!”).

I still am : (

We will have rules that our kids have to at least try everything on their plate. And they either eat what's for dinner or they don't eat. But we won't force them to clear the plate. I've heard that's bad for kids because then their bodies don't learn to know when they are full.

@autumnlove: haha I had to stay at the table until my plate was clear, as well. If I wanted to get up and go to my room, that was okay but my plate stayed in the fridge in case I needed a snack later. Ugh. My parents were awesome. I WILL be like them someday. :)

I learned all about my cat's likes and dislikes:
likes; corn, meat, rice
dislikes: green vegetables (sigh), bread, potatoes

I would have been a picky eater but my parents had zero tolerance. They would always give me small portions that I had to finish or else I would have to stay at the dinner table! I remember staring at a plate of tomato beef over rice for hours...
