Exactly the same though the weight gain graph would look different in shape. I had a ton of swelling - I gained 45 with both but was down 30 in less than 2 weeks both times as the fluid shifted out. I guess it's just what my body does! Unfortunately I've started each one higher due to weight gain after losing all the preg weight, sigh.

I gained waaay too much with my first pregnancy (I think around 50lbs?) & it took me by surprise! This pregnancy I am actively watching my weight, working out, trying to eat better (on some days :silly: ) etc. I am just starting my 3rd tri, but I am on track to gain 25lbs (lets hope it stays that way).

Nope. A completely lazy, junk food monster the first time. Gained about 45 lbs.
A toddler chasing, daily yoga, mostly "clean" eating mama the second time. Gained about 45 lbs. bodies will do what they do.

Exactly 40lbs both times. I'm in survival mode in pregnancy because I am so sick. I was vomiting daily until 30 weeks with DS2 and then had terrible heart burn and back pain. Yeah, I hate pregnancy. So anyway, I didn't try to eat well or exercise. Just survive. ;)

I gained the most with my second and least with my third but I'm having a much much harder time losing it this time. For me I think it is time of year - I pigged out on Christmas cookies when I was pregnant with my second and with my third I was pregnant during spring & summer so I was more active and too hot to eat.

I gained 36 with my first.

So far I weigh about 5 lbs less at 32 weeks than I did with my first.

I was working out prior to pregnancy, and working out through about week 30, now it hurts too much and I get fatigued very quickly (short of breath), so I don't really work out much now. I also ate pretty healthy and continue to do so, so I think I was able to control it to a certain extent. It hasn't been a drastic change, but a little is better than nothing

I gained 30 lbs with each of my first two (and I'm only 5'2). My third pregnancy I was on pace to gain the same when we lost the pregnancy at 18 weeks. I'm now 18 weeks again and I'm guessing I'll gain 30 again based on what I've gained so far. I've taken different approaches to each pregnancy, stay active, but am super duper hungry. I've started out at slightly different weights each time (within 5 lbs of each other) but same size clothes, etc. I think my body just likes gaining 30 lbs, even though I'd love to gain more like 25.

I gained the same both time (@35lbs) despite #2 being more than a pound bigger! DS1 was 8lb3oz and DS2 was 9lb11oz! I think the body gains what it gains. I was on modified bedrest for #2 from 15 weeks until delivery!

I gained 40 with my first pregnancy (basically a pound a week from the beginning) and was horribly uncomfortable for a long time. I was determined not to do that this time so I've been much more determined about staying active, watching my weight gain, and focusing on what I eat. It also helped that I didn't have much nausea in the first trimester, because last time that led to an all-carb, constantly snacking diet that didn't help things. Right now, just into the start of the 3rd tri, I weigh 15 lbs less than I did at this point last pregnancy and it feels SO MUCH BETTER. I could write a novel on all the ways I feel better. I'm on track for a 25-30 lb weight gain which is exactly where I had hoped to be.

@Coral: I gained about 45 in the first pregnancy and i believe I gained about the same maybe a couple pounds less. I never really focused on the weight especially with the first because i started out underweight. But yeah after the birth is when i felt the most blah

If you gained (what you consider) a considerable amount of weight during your pregnancy, were you able to gain less with future pregnancies?
I am not so much worried about getting the weight off (I am 25-30 lbs lighter than prepregnancy) but I was so beyond uncomfortable that I am hoping less weight gain would help.
Anyway, were you able to?
