It got better and better as went to junior high and then high school. No particular reason, I was just shy and the ringleader of the bullies decided that I was a good target. My best friend from high school will say, "You know how you see movies with high school bullies that are just ridiculously over the top and you think that shit could never happen in real life? Yeah, it was worse than that." And she's right, it was. </p> <p>The school suspended the main bully approximately a million times, but things just kept escalating and escalating. I finally had to file a police report - she had a background of getting in trouble with the police, and whatever they said to her finally got her to back down a bit. In 11th grade she got transferred to the alternative high school and I finally didn't have to deal with her anymore. She's still into some pretty messed up stuff from what I've heard. I would have sympathy because I know she had a terrible home life growing up, but I'd say my last bit of sympathy went out the window.when she almost ran me over with her car (and the almost was not for lack of trying. Mortifying at the time, stupid now. (Haha and it wasn't even true) I grew into myself by my junior year and hung out with the older crowd and just ignored my classmates and they moved on to someone else. I feel like they didn't call it bullying back then. But I was definitely made fun of a LOT and teased a ton. I remember coming home crying a lot (the girls on the school bus were some of the meanest!). I also was given a pretty horrible nickname at the beginning of high school, which stuck with me for a while, and sucked. And it didn't help that my brother, who was popular, pretended we weren't related (thanks bro).</p> <p>But by the end of high school, I didn't care what others thought of me and a lot of the kids in my class really matured and were a lot nicer. It hurt, but not nearly as much as when I found out that my friends had started talking behind my back, saying the same things and then excluding me from things and telling new people I had never met (when we moved on to highschool) to treat me horribly too. That was 1000x worse. It went on from when I was around 9 until I was 14. I hated most of the kids I went to school with, and still struggle with whether to go to reunions, etc. I love my friends, but the kids who made my life hell in middle / high school were just awful. It was a factor though when I moved away from my hometown years later. I was also targeted in junior high by some kids, but started lifting weights and the problem faded over time.
