My parents were the type to really get into things with us and go the extra mile to make sure we could do it. My mother drove me to twirling lessons an hour away every week for two years and never missed a performance. My father spent countless hours shuttling my sister back and forth to her show choir events. I've read a lot about how girls aren't really encouraged to delve into their interests, whereas boys are greatly encouraged to do so. It's one of the reasons I was excited to have a daughter, so that we could encourage her to explore her passions and interests!</p> <p>In any case, I'd love to hear about your experiences. Were you encouraged in your interests as a child? </p>
