I started getting HBP at 37 weeks and was sent to triage a few times for monitoring. Otherwise, I had to have my BP checked often. I was induced at 40w4d. It must have been "white coats' disease as my BP would only get high when I went to my doctor's office. I never had any protein in my urine.

I was pulled out of work at 35 weeks due to PIH. I did the 24 hour urine catch and it came back just above the max threshold. My doctor wanted me to take it easy and I had to go in twice a week for NST's. He wanted to induce by 39 weeks but my little guy had other ideas and came at 37w5d.

My first pregnancy I was on BP meds from 16 weeks on. I was on bed rest starting at 22 weeks. Doc wanted to induced at 39 weeks but I didn't have protein in my urine so I asked to push it a little more. At my 40 week appointment I did have protein in my urine, so I was induced on my due date and had a healthy baby.

With baby number 2, I was on BP meds starting at 12 weeks. Went into labor naturally at 38+6. I was on modified bed rest starting at 32 weeks.

I was induced at 39 weeks for PIH. I had pre-e with my first pregnancy so they watched me very closely during my second pregnancy when my BP went up at about 32 weeks. Never turned into pre-e but my OB didn't want to push it past 39 weeks and wait for things to escalate. I had office visits, ultrasounds and NSTs 2-3x/ week after my BP went up.

I hope things go well for you!

I dealt with spikes but it would come down, however the spikes caused dizziness/spots. We decided to induce at 39+2 days (it was ultimately my choice but my doc agreed with my decision.)

I had mild PIH (but no symptoms of pre-eclampsia) for about 3-4 weeks at the end of my pregnancy. They finally induced me at 37 weeks because my BP went scary high.

They wanted to induce me from 38 weeks on for high bp readings in the office. I was sent to l&d 3 times for monitoring because I really felt that I was fine and didn't want to be induced early. I fought for an induction date the day after my due date and drs agreed but made me come into the office every other day for a bp reading and/or non-stress test. They were satisfied and i was induced day after my due date - two days failure to progress ending in a c-section but all was well!

Just remembered - I was told to buy a home blood pressure monitor and to call if it was over a certain number, maybe 140/90? I also found that by laying down my blood pressure was a lot better than sitting or standing. There was a couple times I did have to go into labor and delivery and they did some monitoring and I got sent home because baby was doing fine.

@HappyBaker: once my BP went up, I went on partial bedrest and a normal appt, 2 non-stress tests and an ultrasound a week. It was a lot but kept him safe and growing for awhile longer.

@jetsa: Yea that is very interesting, maybe it varies from office to office! I'm glad to hear though it sounds like I might make it later than I thought.

I had high BP the last few weeks of pregnancy, and I had to do the urine catches too. I had protein in them, but I did 3 and I they each went down a little bit, so no pre-eclampsia. I think around at 38 weeks I was put on bed rest and told to spend an entire 24 hours lying down and only getting up to use the bathroom and to eat (as quick as possible).

They did a couple of special ultrasounds to make sure the baby was ok, and he was great so they wouldn't induce me. At that point I was practically begging to get the baby out I was so miserable, lol. My midwife was looking for any excuse to keep me, but she couldn't. I did end up getting induced at 39w due to GD. If I didn't have GD, I'm not sure what would've happened, if my BP would've made them induce me anyways or not.

@HappyBaker: 39 weeks at my choice. She said to be any earlier the urine catch would have to come back with protein bc PIH is not considered medically neccesary so they cannot induce prior to full term. I Hope I won't have to be induced this time but I went pain-med free and didn't mind the pitocin

Super interesting to hear these other responses maybe that was just my dr office. My blood pressure went down to immediately after birth

I had high bp at my 39 week appt. I went to the hospital at 39w4d and had high bp. They wanted to induce, I wanted to wait. I ended up back again the next day with higher bp and we induced. During my induction my bp never went back to the high level and remained really good. I think it had more to do with MIL showing up unexpectedly.
DD was born on her due date by c section but healthy with perfect apgars.

I hope you don't end up with an induction, mine was no fun, but I'm glad you're in good hands and getting monitoring.

I was actually induced due to PROM on my due date and not high blood pressure, but I had PIH from 37 weeks onwards I think. Absolutely nothing the whole way through, and then it really started jumping around those last few weeks. It got very high at times, but because I only ever had trace protein in the urine and didn't have any other pre-e symptoms I was able to avoid induction. They had me in there like every day for a CTG though to check on baby - he was never affected. Mine also stayed high after delivery and took a few months to come back down to normal.

I had high BP for about a month before I was induced but it jumped scary high right at 36 weeks. My urine never came back with anything more than trace protein so they sent me in to be induced at 36+5. LO was born at 37 weeks exactly and had no problems except jaundice. Doctors assumed I would have eventually had full-blown preeclampsia and my BP actually went even higher after delivery. But it DID eventually come back down so don't be discouraged if that happens to you! In my hormonal state I felt like I'd never be back to normal. Good luck!

If you had high blood pressure at the end of your pregnancy, but did not have preeclampsia, were you induced early / how early?

My 24 hour urine catch just came back okay, so for now still just PIH and not preeclampsia, but I'm wondering how this ended up for others. Thanks!
