I was exhausted and didn't really have control over myself by that point. The nurse told me to be quiet during pushing and just concentrate on breathing and bearing down. I went from 5-10cm in 15 minutes and didn't have time for an epi. However, I would get yelled at for yelling during the pushes since that would use up some of the force I should have been using to push. I was silent. I didn't get my epidural until RIGHT before it was time to push and felt all the transition hell but didn't make a noise at all. I never said anything. DH tried to rub my back at one point (thinking it would help) and I slapped his hand away and grunted. He said he had a hard time not laughing bc I sounded like a cave woman! :) </p> <p>After my epidural I was chatty effing Cathy tho! Then I had DS2 and I was LOUD. And I don't laugh at movies anymore. Lol. For the most part I was moaning. But during pushing screaming seemed to help me so so much. So I let it all out. I know I was extremely loud and I hope I didn't scream any other women! And thankfully my nurses and midwives were wonderful about it. </p> <p>I was very quiet with DS1 though. I felt like I was screaming during pushing, but when I commented on it after they were like, Oh, no, that wasn't screaming. So I guess it wasn't that loud? I was very much in my own zone by the time pushing came around. </p> <p>Around the point of transition I kept saying, "I just want this to be over soon" and "I'd really like this to be over", very polite. They were all laughing at me. That's when I asked about an epidural but since I was in transition we decided to keep going med free. </p> <p>@.twist.: I still am not sure if I pooped, but frankly, I don't care and didn't in the moment. My friend had told me if it feels like you're pooping it means you are pushing right, so I took that to heart. So.... I got my epidural pretty quickly and was still quiet. But the epidural wore off while pushing for 3 hours and I was screaming my head off at the end - 5 seconds between contractions, Pitocin turned up several times - yeah, I was loud.
