Early in my pregnancy I was experiencing major symptoms that I passed it off as me being ill. After describing major chest pains, my doctor noticed that my heartbeat was irregular and sent me to get a stress test done to monitor my heart. Right before the test I had to sign a paper stating that I was not pregnant. I really didn't think there was any way that I was pregnant at the time, but then the next day I wondered if that could be the cause of so many of my symptoms. Of course I got a BFP, and I feared the danger that I put my unborn child under.

My LO was exposed to a very small dose of radiation, and we went to see a specialist who assured us that it would not affect our baby. Right after speaking with the specialist, we had a level II ultrasound that confirmed that our baby was healthy and thriving. Phew. It was a very scary way to start out my pregnancy, but I can happily say that my LO is now 6 months old and very healthy. :)

Our story is a little bit different. But, just wanted to chime in. Hubby just found out from his primary care physician that the medication he's been on for years could potentially cause defects in male babies. He'll need to go off the medication and we will need to wait at least a month before trying.

His dermatologist who also prescribes the same medicine to other patients said that it really only affects females that are on the medication, but "to be safe" that he should stop taking the medication.

I think it's the "better safe than sorry" approach. I'm sure there are people who have been able to have babies through different medications, but I think you're doing the safe, right thing by waiting another month until you're back to your healthy self.

So we are about a month away to start TTC, but today I woke up and got the urge to start now.

Well, I decided I should just wait.

I had the flu last weekend and that was followed by a sinus infection, so I haven't been completely healthy. (Usually, I am. I can't remember the last time I was this sick.) Well, last night I had a minor allergic reaction to some medicine I was taking. It felt like my throat was swelling up. After a late night trip to the ER, I was given some benedryl and some steroid medication (prednisone). After realizing that anti-inflammatory medications is one of the drugs you should stay away from during a pregnancy, I decided to wait to start TTC. I think I should wait til I'm off the prednisone. Too bad I'm suppose to be ovulating, right now. Oh, well.

Anyway back to the question, were you on any medication when you found out you were pregnant? I google this question this morning and found quite a few people who were sick or on medication when they conceived and they ended up having completely heathly children.
