No, I wasn't popular in high school. I was quiet in school. I did have friends but I definitely did not hang out with the jocks and cheerleaders.

I wasn't prom queen/cheerleader popular, but my best friend was. And my husband (varsity football captain) was, as well. I wasn't all about being the center of attention,, and I've never been one to try and get to know everyone, so I think I came off as more stand-offish. I was involved in a lot of clubs, though, and I also had no problems hanging out with the oddballs/stoners/surfers. I think that left me in an odd spot because I didn't fit nicely into a category.

i would say i was one of the well-liked popular crowd. i was super involved: cheer, asb, honors classes, etc, and my best friends were guys on the football/basketball teams who were definitely "popular" in the fact that EVERYONE in our school knew them. there was also a group that i would consider "popular" but in the mean girls sense that no one i know really liked them although they were well known.

i was popular, but in a "people loved to hate me" kind of way. i am sure all 4 thousand kids knew who i was, but i really only had 3 or 4 friends.
unfortunately, i was your stereotypical high school girl....blonde, thin, cheerleading captain, senior class president, homecoming queen, and valedictorian. i made some friends through being so involved, but most of the student body probably just wanted to throw up on me.
looking back, i wish i didn't try so hard.

Like most pp's, I was "well liked" but not popular. I did a lot of non-sport extra curriculars so I knew a lot of the student body. My HS had about 4,000 students.

And I guess being band president didn't help in the popularity department :) I noticed that a lot of bees hung out in the band room during lunch!

Popular enough. I wasn't prom queen or anything, but I was known and very involved. I was friends with that crowd, went to those parties, hung out with those boys. I had a lot of fun in high school, so it worked out.

Not really. I would say I was on the tier right under the popular kids. But I also went to a school with 3,000 students (and that was just for 11th and 12th grade), so it was hard to be well-known just because there was SO many students.

DH graduated with 80 people and was a total jock. Played football, was at the top of his class, and was extremely popular. I don't think we would have dated in high school!

I wasn't popular but I do think I was well liked. I graduated with only 56 people though so everyone knew and talked to everyone else.

I hung out with some of the popular people during the school day but never was a part of the parties and such they did outside of school.

Kind of, I was the "new kid" when I hit HS. One of the popular girls took me "in" (we bacame BF) but I was a pretty quiet person. So out and about I was pretty quiet and more "reserved". Haha

Not really, nor was I really concerned about it. I hung out with people from varied groups and yes, some of them were the "popular" kids but I was by no means popular myself.

I was goth, and did theater, orchestra and choir. My good friends were mostly guys and they were almost all nerds and skaters and outcasts. You know what? DH and I met because of them and we are still friends with a lot of them years later. :) I feel like I made the right choice.

Elementary school was my time to shine. I was a rockstar. Mostly because I was a goofball but whatever works! In HS, I'd say I hit my plateau. I was still friends with a lot of people and hung out with an in-crowd (one of a few in-crowds) but I never really felt popular. It was only after HS, in speaking to a former classmate that I found out that I was regarded as a popular person. Who knew? I think I was so insecure that I wasn't able to see myself as likeable. In any event, I was still a goofball then and was nominated for class clown.

I hung out in the popular crowd ... but there were only 100 kids in my high school... so if you were an athlete you were in the popular group.. if you werent athletic you were in the other group.

I hung out in the "popular" crowd in middle school, then randomly got "banned" from their table at the cafeteria. I still stayed friends with a couple of the girls... and by the time we got to high school - I was on good terms with all of them. I'm sure it hurt at the time, but in my vague recollection, it only changed me for the better. In high school, I was friends with all different people in different groups and I vowed that I'd never shun anyone away for wanting a friend. I think I lucked out in having a pretty normal, easy ride in high school as far as the social scene.

I hung out in the popular crowd in middle school, then realized after a few months that I didn't have fun when I was with them because they were so catty and all they cared about was impressing each other. So one day I just switched lunch tables and my life changed. I made new friends and it stayed like that all through High School. I was a cheerleader though, so I was invited to all of the football parties which the popular crowd went to and would go sometimes. So I was accepted by them, but not in their immediate circle.

I wasn't "popular" as in I wasn't included in the "in crowd." However, I had a lot of different groups of friends. I had close friends in 4 or 5 different groups in my high school. They ranged from the "soccer girls" (2 of those friends were my roommates through college and my bridesmaids) to the "weird/smart kids" (one of my very best friends now who I've known since 2nd grade and...DH :)).

I wouldn't say I was popular but everyone knew who I was (being pregnant in highschool will do that). People would always come up to me and ask me how I was doing and how my daughter was and I had no idea who they were. Popular people tried to talk to me but I didn't talk to them because they annoyed me, I hung out with all of the band geeks in the band room because that is where my husband (boyfriend then) hung out.

I hung out with the popular kids in middle school. And then realized I didn't want to be friends with people who are constantly talking behind each other's backs. When I started high school, I was hanging out with band geeks instead. So no, I wasn't popular. But I was much happier being friends with non popular people.

I was popular in elementary school. Jr. High and High school were a bit different since the campuses were a lot bigger there wasn't just one popular group. I was known by my entire class and liked. I mingled with everyone--thespians, singers, academics/nerds, jocks/cheerleaders.

When I entered high school, I was still adolescently chubby, wore glasses (still do but back then they were uncool!), and had braces. My brother was in grade 12 and was VERY popular. All the girls like him so they were nice to me in hopes of scoring some points. I didn't have many friends because my girlfriends had all gone to different high schools than me.

Anyway, in my grade the really cool and popular kids ended up being the same kids I grew up with since we were little. I wasn't a part of that crowd - I was smart, joined all the extra-curricular clubs, played volleyball, volunteered, did my homework, and was pretty much the coolest un-cool person. The thing is, though, the cool kids liked me...They asked me to tutor them, they talked with me, said hi to my in the halls, and even asked me for advice (nothing is worse, though, than having the hottest and most popular guy in high school as you for advice on how to ask out another girl. This same guy who threw up on his desk in second grade! Ugh).

I wasn't by any means popular, but I suppose I was well-liked.

Were you popular?
