I did feel sad when Ellie weaned, even though she was 5! And I think not feeling like your last session was as memorable as it should have been (or, in my case, even remembering when the last session was exactly) is a really common part of the weaning process for many women. Congratulations to you and Olive as you start this new chapter of your relationship-- you can certainly be proud of how she is growing! He used to open his mouth so wide at the sound of my nursing bra clicking open. My supply took a big hit when AF came back so he was happy to take a bottle and not have to wait for letdowns that took forever. Congrats Bee, your boobs are yours again! I was a bit sad, but I think that sadness came from concern over whether I was doing it for myself or for my daughter. She was about 8 months old and weaning was a for the combined reasons of needing to supplement with a high calorie formula (which she wouldn't take while the breast was an option) and wanting to TTC #2. Like you, I didn't know our last session would be it - I tried to formally nurse her one last time and she shot me down! I am dreading weaning. I never thought I would have nursed for this long (13.5 months) and we now only nurse morning and right before bedtime. For us it was a process of weeks /months of on and off nursing strikes. So toward the end I treated each of our sessions as our last, and I cherished and was very present for all of them. I even took pictures and videos of that lol. But I am glad I did that. I was devastated for weeks when we were leading up to LO weaning (he weaned me). So I was just mildly sad when at the last session he looked at my nipple, thought about it for a while, and pushed me away and cried. I was like, okay, here's your bottle :crying: :happy: That was when he was 8.5 months. And cheers to your freedom! Now go get a round of liquor!!! I thought it would take weeks, but it took days. She was still asking for milk today on day 4, but weaning has been going so well that I didn't want to go back to the drawing board. I didn't know that our last nursing session was going to be our last, so it was like a typical session and I'm kinda sad about that. :crying: If I'd known it was going to be our last, I would definitely have been more present and remembered it. I'm glad that she's weaned, but I'm also a little sad. I'm sure hormones have something to do with it too. I guess that's her Christmas present to me! Were you sad when you weaned?
