My mom didn't even have to say anything to us - she just gave us a look and we'd stop what we were doing immediately. Because of that, it was hard for us to har an open relationship with them. I think there should be some element of fear, but I also want LO to feel that she would be able to tell me when she's in trouble--and I was too terrified to go to my mom when I was in trouble and needed help. I was afraid of him, but only because she threatened me with him. He never did anything bad. or even yelled for that matter. He was just very stern and would tell me he was disappointed. I hated that. </p> <p>The oldest one only listens to me. You can tell he fears me a little bit, but I've never done anything for him to have that reaction. (I yelled once when he was 2 but he doesn't remember) He behaves so well for me too. The other parental units are jealous. It made me a much better behaved little boy.</p> <p>I spent a lot of time building trust and love with Charlie, and so he didn't fear me at all. We've introduced behavior/rewards charts (we'll blog about this soon!), and now he's afraid that I'll take away some of the coins that we use to keep score. So he's waaay better behaved! It's crazy.</p> <p>I guess a little fear can go a long way. I'm not sure how I feel about this.</p> <p>Were you scared of your parents?
