Well my acupuncturist said its OK to keep trying since it was such an early loss. I'm also seeing a naturopath tomorrow to talk about my thyroid meds though, so we'll see what she says.

@Mrs.Someone: I lost a pregnancy right around that same point. We took a month off as my doc suggested. My period came 28 days after the loss and we were successful on the next cycle!

I never actually told my midwife about my chemical pregnancy. I did tell my acupunctureist and she said it's usually recommended to wait 3 months after getting off BC to begin trying. (The CP happened in month #1 off the pill).

I didn't wait and got pregnant again the next month.

I'm so sorry about your loss. Mine was a later one and I was to wait 2-3 cycles, but my doctor gave us the clear at 2 cycles. We waited a 3rd because we weren't ready. I would say do what you are comfortable with.

So sorry about your loss! After mine, the doctor suggested waiting 2-3 cycles before TTC again. She said that there's not really enough medical evidence to say that waiting is necessary, but she suggests that time frame to allow for grieving and beginning to heal.

I had an early miscarriage and doc said to stop trying but old wives tales say you are extra fertile after a CP/early miscarriage.... and we got pregnant right away after. Emotionally maybe not the best idea

I had a CP at 4.5 weeks and kept trying (didn't consult dr). It didn't work anyway, but I still tried.

I had a CP/Early MC last month and my RE just had us go right into treating the next cycle. At first it was a little weird because we had to start up with the appointment on CD3 of miscarrying. It just seemed kind of sad and like we weren't taking any time for our loss. But it's been a couple weeks now and I'm glad we didn't stop trying. I'm also hoping that we'll experience the increased fertility that some couples do after losing a pregnancy.

I had a C/P (I also prefer this to M/C) in Feb. Waited one cycle (which came on time), then TTC in April. Got my BFP! We weren't doing anything to increase our chances, other than a super healthy diet, some "conception tea" and FertileCM.

I had 2 early m/c's (I prefer C/P like @jocole too), and both times the doc suggested to take a cycle off. But both cycles afterwards were completely normal.

@winniebee - Thanks for the info!

@jocole - Maybe we need a completely new term, since I'm not really a fan of either. "Scout Egg?" I'll think about it... I appreciate your advice, I think you're right in that our bodies will regulate when they are ready. That makes me feel a little more at ease.

Hi @Mrs.Someone: I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. When my chemical pregnancy (I prefer to call it that because m/c sounds just too too sad.... isn't it interesting how we all deal differently with these things?) happened, I remember asking the exact same questions as you.
My doctor didn't have a strong opinion one way or another. She mostly suggested that we do what we felt comfortable with. We decided to stop OPKing for that next cycle and just see what happened. I had a similar experience to @winniebee: in that my cycle was over 60 days! I think our bodies know more what we need and will help us regulate when we start to try again that way.

But, of course, talk to your doctor s/he will know more about YOU and your body (and medicine!).

First, I'm very sorry about your loss.

I had an early miscarriage (was 5-6 weeks along). My docotr suggested giving my body one full cycle to regulate after the miscarriage before trying again. We followed their advice. It took me a long time to get my period again after (like 6 weeks) and then we started trying again and I got pregnant on cycle 3 of trying again. Good luck!

I've been wondering if my doc and acupuncturist are going to suggest taking a month off of TTC after my m/c (I hate the term "Chemical Pregnancy") It happened at 4.5 weeks, so I don't expect my cycle to be too thrown off. I want to get the show on the road and try again right away. Also, acupuncture is expensive so the longer I wait the more it costs...

What did your medical professionals suggest?
