Well, I guess maybe that's not true. It's just something they've never really wanted to bring up. It's strictly forbidden at dinner time at all of our holidays. But, I bet if I asked my Dad to talk more about it he'd do so. And then I'd want to punch him in the throat. Haha. Both of my parents worked for the Federal government and both are very liberal. My mom is retired now and spends most of her time at home watching MSNBC. She is obsessed lol. She was also a very dedicated volunteer with the Obama campaign over the past year and even got sent to Richmond to help with voting down there. My dad participated in the Southern Baptist Convention's boycott of Disney when they had "gay days" at Disneyworld. He got extremely angry at me/mom once when I was in middle school and randomly picked out some cute underwear with minnie mouse on it, because--oh yeah, we were supposed to be boycotting Disney. He participated in boycotts of several other companies if they supported abortion or a whole list of other things. My parents have always voted.</p> <p>Now that I'm an adult, I'm prettttty much a raging liberal. I think I even convinced my mom to Vote for Obama in the last two elections, and I think this because she refuses to tell anyone in our family who she voted for, so I think it must be Obama. I was more politically active in Texas when we lived there. I was even a democratic district representative at the state convention once, during the presidential election 5 years ago.</p> <p>So, in spite of our very different political beliefs, I do credit my parents for teaching me that politics are something to be passionate about. Seeing their example growing up made me feel strong in my own convinctions. I helped elect the first gay, hispanic, female sheriff of Dallas. In the 90's there was some pretty serious health care reform going on (My mom is a nurse) so when the provincial election happened she was very against the sitting Premier who my dad supported. It's taken me some time, but I've gotten less apathetic about politics over the years. I will never affiliate with a party though.
