Nope. In fact, a week before our shower I started getting packages and I was SO confused as to why there were so many things being delivered. I was convinced I was online shopping in the middle of night during my pregnancy insomnia and couldn't remember, lol.

@kjpugs: @Foodnerd81: I think both of these are great ideas! I will probably mix it up then, duplicating smaller items we don't mind getting two of, and perhaps duplicating a few of the larger items for people who can't attend or prefer to shop online. Also a great idea to register at BBB for anything we may want to exchange!

@Foodnerd81: totally agree, if I was having an in-person shower and wanting to be surprised I would probably pare down the duplicates. My situation is different in that sense! Although I don't think I've been to a shower where there wasn't a duplicate... usually that's Target's fault (ugh, their registry is HORRIBLE!)

@Cara M. 17: Just for comparisons sake, I did the opposite of @kjpugs: -- I only registered for most things at one or the other, because I didn't want to chance getting duplicates at the shower and making people feel bad. So I had duplicates for things I want more than one of-- hooded towels, sleepers, changing pad cover-- not something you only need one of, like the activity mat or something. I found a lot of prices to actually be about the same, so if you used a 20% coupon, BBB would be less. But I didn't register for our stroller or big furniture.

So far people who aren't coming to the shower tend to buy from Amazon, and younger people. I think at the end more people will buy from BBB at the last minute.

Oh, and anything I thought there was a high likelihood that I would end up returning I put on BBB. Like (and this is so silly) I registered for a green K'Tan carrier, but if the baby is a girl, I want to swap it for the purple. Easier to do it in store than online :)

@Cara M. 17: I duplicated any that were at both places, really, save for a few small ones I was too lazy to look up on Amazon that I saw at BBB. DEFINITELY register both places for expensive stuff, I feel like older relatives buy stuff like that, and if they want to overspend on it by going BBB instead of Amazon is not your problem. If you have the $$ you can always return it there and buy on Amazon. I know some of my relatives wouldn't know Amazon if it bit them on the nose! But I still registered for our travel system both places- even though it's $100 cheaper on Amazon. You don't want to miss out just because you only registered where it was cheap.

@kjpugs: Makes sense! I feel like some people are shopping in the store type and others are the online type. What kinds of things did you duplicate? Larger items? For some items I was planning to add them on amazon only, like the bob stroller. It's $450 at BBB and only $335 on amazon!

@Cara M. 17: I would, as long as you are ok with checking your registry! We did this because we didn't want items to get missed if they were only on one registry, and the other was more popular. We like that if we got duplicates, we had the choice to return to either place (usually BBB would be the best best since no shipping, and it's pricier generally!) but as long as I catch them I'm removing/marking purchased items from one registry as they are fulfilled on the other. I like giving our friends/family more options to shop where they're comfortable.

@kjpugs: I don't have gender specific stuff, and I have a lot of hand me downs so don't have a number of things that most people would put on there, but so far my BBB one still has plenty. I think a lot of people go off registry anyway. I also didn't put anything on there for past 6 months-- we just don't have room to store things like a high chair or the convertible car seat until we need them. So maybe mine is a little smaller but people will also buy clothes, I'm sure. We are team green so nothing gender specific :)

Yup, I look at them most days. Partly it's practical, because I put more on the BBB one than Amazon, but as more things got purchased from Amazon, I moved some BBB stuff over so online people would still have options (I tried not to have duplicates on both). At least half of the things that have been purchased have been shipped right to us anyway-- I LOVE coming home to a present waiting at the bottom of the stairs. I'm like a 5 year old. Then someone complained I didn't have enough on my registry so I went back and looked (she lied, there is plenty, just not something she wanted to give me I guess).

I'm going to try not to this week since the shower is next weekend though.

I also did a lot of purchasing stuff ourself second hand. For example, we got a swing and exersaucer so I went ahead and put them on there and marked them off just so people didn't go buy them.

I didn't register for our wedding, so this registry thing is new and AWESOME! Some friends act mortified when I tell them I'm stalking my registries- but our showers are out of state and it was requested guests ship gifts, so they're all showing up at our door... either I find out then or when I check online! I'd probably still stalk even if I had a "normal" shower, although I can see how that is ruining the surprise. I just love seeing stuff disappear, it helps me know baby will have a place to sleep, clothes, etc and get excited! (Not that baby wouldn't have these things if no one bought them as a gift! It's just a fun sense of excitement/relief.)

Plus, I'm going in and marking items purchased when they're bought on another registry (ex: marked the Ergo off our BBB registry when it was purchased on our Amazon one) so we don't get a lot of overlap. I did have a lot of overlap between both registries too, but that's because I know some people are store people, and others are Amazon people, and most people would have a preference. I wanted to give them as many options as I could.

So... share how you managed your registry!
