@lovehoneybee: I'm sure that would be quite the adjustment! We can buy everything at the gas station too, including wine but it's cheap stuff, nothing good lol

@JennyLayneAZ: I moved here from Louisiana, where you could buy beer and liquor at a gas station and beer, wine, and liquor at the grocery store. It was hard to get used to when I moved here!

@lovehoneybee: interesting. Our liquor laws are pretty lax here. We can buy beer/liquor/wine etc at all grocery stores and we can buy it on Sundays as of a few years ago.

@lovehoneybee: We can actually buy beer by the bottle at HyVee (grocery store local to the midwest I believe). They have mix-and-match 6 pks for $10 so you can choose 6 different beers.
DH and I did this for a fun 'date night' in.

@JennyLayneAZ: It's a separate room of a grocery store that sells beer. I think you can buy up to 2 single bottles to drink in the café (which has seating), and 2 6-packs to go (which are hard to find at a reasonable price in PA because of our alcohol laws). I think they have to have a special liquor license (REALLY hard to come by here), and you pay for them at a separate register (so you can't just put a 6-pack in your cart with the rest of your groceries).

I had to look some up lol:
Arizona state has 18 national monuments, more than any other state in the Unites States
Arizona is home to the world’s largest rose bush. Planted in Tombstone in 1885, the giant rose bush has a 12-foot circumference trunk and covers an area of 9,000 square feet.
'Skydive Arizona' is the largest skydiving center in the world.
In area, Arizona is the sixth largest state in the United States (behind Alaska, Texas, California, Montana and New Mexico) All six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and the state of Pennsylvania would fit inside Arizona.

@Mamaof2: I usually don't mind it, because we can drink a case (well, D can, I drink more wine), but it is annoying if we'd just want to try a new beer, and can't get a six-pack. I've had some that I really liked but wouldn't want 24 beers. We usually just get the same kind, though. The nearest Wegman's is a hike for us (but they're opening one in our city soon-ish!), but there's a sign up in our local Weis saying they'd have a beer café soon...

Washington state was called Columbia when it was a territory but the name was changed to Washington so it wouldn't get confused with DC (haha, joke's on us). It's the only state named after a president.

Puget Sound has the largest ferry fleet in the US.

Washington is the largest apple producer in the US and also has a thriving wine industry.

The terrain ranges from temperate rain forest in the west (Olympic peninsula) to desert in the central/east, with volcanic mountains in between.

PA is a Commonwealth with the largest Amish population in the world, and is home to the nation's oldest golf course, first zoo, first computer (used) and first baseball stadium. We also have dumb alcohol laws here. We can't buy anything in grocery stores (although some stores side-step that through some loop-holes), for the most part can't buy anything on Sundays (although a wine and spirits store near me is open for 5 hours on Sunday, but I'm not sure how!). Wine and spirits are state-run stores, and most of the beer you can buy has to be bought in a case from a beer distributor. Profits from the sale of lottery tickets and the state wine and spirits stores go into a slush fund that pays my salary! (I work for the state).

Florida really is as bad as it sounds on the news. Ha ha. But really, the heat makes people insane and dehydration causes anxiety and depression worse . Mix in a vibrant drug culture, retirees making most all political decisions for the state (aka who cares about the future..I need things to be cheap now), and a huge diversity/melting pot among it's residents, and FL is pretty wacky. I also think since people who have hit rock-bottom can live outside here all year round, we end up with a lot of people who have just kind of washed out in life.

Living near so much water is pretty huge for most of us, so we tough it out.
