The teacher is great and the music isn't annoying, my toddler loves it and is engaged (aka behaves) the whole time. And the baby likes the noise and usually falls asleep. Win. I used to like taking my toddler out for lunch dates (usually bagels). This is less fun with two even though the baby is pretty easy. She does great in restaurants, we have a blast at the museum and the aquarium, and she even likes shopping (if we keep it short). I also like to veg at home and watch movies with her. If I could design my perfect scenario, it would be an outdoor pool club like I belonged to as a child. I like to do things that are flexible, meaning they don't have a set start and end time. When I just had my son, I loved going out with him. I'm a SAHM, and we would leave the house almost every day to do something fun. We would go to the park, walk on the greenway, go to play dates, go to Gymboree, go to the bounce houses, or even just drive around looking at different neighborhoods (this was probably more fun for me haha). Now that I have two, it's a lot more challenging. My 7 month old doesn't sleep well on the go, so if we leave the house, I know it will mess up his nap schedule that day. Also, as he becomes more mobile, it will be difficult to find places that appeal to both of them (or where I can keep them both in my sight). I have friends who rarely leave the house with two kids, because one will run left while the other one goes right, and they can't keep an eye on both of them. It's easier to wrangle two in our own space! If I only have one, I prefer to be out and about, although doing different things. I love more intimate one-on-one things with my almost 4 year old (e.g., going to the zoo, going for hot chocolate/coffee, running errands) because I love having discussions with her. With the 15 month old, I prefer going places where she can safely run around & get into new things like the park, play spaces, or play dates. Whether it's running errands, library, zoo, etc. I work from home so anything that gets us out of the house is fun for me. Dh on the other hand likes staying home w them and just playing w their toys, and with them! He travels locally and hardly sees them during the week so he just likes being with them without disruption!
