We moved lo into his crib from his bassinet at around 5 weeks. He remained in our room until 6.5 months. He has been sleeping so much better in his own room. We were disturbing his sleep. I was the one holding off and still a little sad to have him away from me. We made the decision to try it out for at least 5 days upon our drs suggestion as I was exhausted and was unable to fully function during the day. We slowly transitioned by leaving him in hus crib and room for 2 nights first and then moved his crib into his own room after that.

We moved LO to his room in a bassinet when he was a month old. When he was two months old we transitioned him to his crib and he had no complaints. He still naps in his bouncy chair, though.

We started inconsistently around 3 months, just during the daytime for naps. Our ped recommended us have LO get used to the crib for when we eventually would transition him full time.

We're moving when the baby is 4 months old. Our plan is to set up a nursery at that point and then transition her to a crib. We'll see how well we follow that plan when the time comes though...

I'm reviving this thread because I'm interested in what newer members have done or are doing! I feel like there are conflicting messages out there - 4 months is when babies can start sleeping through the night, and before they can become too set in their ways, but recommendations regarding SIDS say that babies should sleep near Mom & Dad for the first 6 months. Just interested in what everyone has done or will do!

After day 2. I appreciated her in her own room. For the 2 days she was in our room I woke at every little noise. So it really helps my sleep. I also think she enjoys her room. There is so much sensory stuff we put in there she enjoys looking at it.

With my son we co-slept due to colic, that was my worst mistake. He stayed in my bed until he was 4 years old, transitioning to big boy bed was the most traumatic thing for me (even in the middle of a nasty divorce, it was worse). Eventually he stayed in his bed, but I will never forget how awful it was!

So Maddy is in her crib at night, we started 2 weeks ago and she'll be 8 weeks on Sunday. When my husband is out town I let her sleep with me, but no more than 2 nights in a row. She was super easy to put in her crib.

We moved LO to her own room at 3 weeks when my husband went back to work. It was the right time for us, and LO didn't have any trouble with the move. I spent the first night she was in her crib on the reclining glider in her room, but in retrospect, I think that was more for me than for her :)

LM still cosleeps with us at 9 months. When we tried transitioning her to a crib a little over a month a go, she just wasn't having it. I think we've waited too long and she just relies on our physical presence for comfort and to fall asleep.

When I took prenatal they told us not to move him until he was 6 months old, but I have heard a lot about how around 4 months they begin to develop more memory so that's probably about when we move Cameron. Not only that it'll be hitting summer, and we've only got one air conditioner and it will be going in the nursery's window.

She went in at a month and a half, because she got too tall for her bassinet.

I was pretty upset about it, but life was so much better with her in her own room. She's a light sleeper so now sh sleeps better, we don't have to tip toe around, and we can have privacy.

Nine weeks. She had been in the pack and play in our room up until that point. At nine weeks I returned to work and she started daycare. At daycare she sleeps in a crib. The pack and play is very crib-like with the addition of a soothing vibration (which we used everytime we put her down). I decided that we needed to take away the vibration since she wouldn't have it at daycare.

We all seem to sleep a bit better now. We have a video monitor that I keep on through the night so I can always see her and hear her.

She's never slept in our bed, which probably made the transition to her crib/room easier for all of us.

I think every baby is different and there are no set rules to follow. Everyone told me that the baby should sleep in my room so I did that at first but it turned out that my daughter was a very noisy sleeper and kept me up all night so I moved her out of my room very quickly after a few days and she was fine! I say it would not hurt to try the crib now for your LO. When I moved my daughter, she was only a few days old but I did all her feedings in her room to help her feel comfortable to sleep in there, too.

We moved LO at 3 months- both he and I sleep better when we're not together!
I think babies start to have more memory around 4 months, so I've heard a lot of people say they want to move them before then.
That said, my friends who co-slept for longer than that, and moved their kids out of their bed/room when they felt like they were developmentally ready for it, said they really didn't have any problems with it.
I do think the people who had easy transitions were more likely to wait on cues from their kids as to when would be a good time to transition, as opposed to people who said "baby can co-sleep till age 1, and then must be out of our room, regardless of what else is going on with him/her!"

Oh, letting her sleep in her bassinet in her room is a good idea. She's a very alert baby, she'll notice the differences. She tends to not enjoy changes in the routine, go figure :) At least with that she'll have a little familiarity.

every baby is different so it's hard to say when you should make the transition. can you ease into it by letting her sleep in her bassinet in her room?

My daughter is 6 months and still in our room. I didn't think she would be but I like her there and she likes being there. It seems more inconvenient to put her in another room right now so I don't. Of the people I know who co-roomed for the first year the majority said the transition was fine and surprisingly undramatic, though one did have to deal with major meltdowns and another friend still hasn't moved her 3-1/2 year old, but she seems to like him in her room still so I guess it's whatever makes them happy. I don't think rooming in or out is going to have detrimental effects either way.

we only have a one bedroom at the moment so our baby's crib will be in our room and she will sleep in her crib from day one when we get home.
My nephew started sleeping in his crib when he was about a month old.. I think the longer you put it off the harder it becomes for them to adjust to it.

I'm so reluctant to put my baby in her crib. She's 3.5 months now. I just love having her close to me, it feels like her bedroom is really far away. But am I being silly? Should she already be transitioning to her crib? I don't know if this is a "to each, his own" issue, or if there's a definite age that babies should sleep solo.

How did you guys begin transitioning her? Her bedroom is pretty foreign to her at this point, we only spend a little bit of time in there so I think it might be difficult. Plus, her bassinet has the comfiest matress ever, the crib matress isn't as nice.
