At 4.5 months, we transitioned from swaddling to a sleepsack and started a bedtime routine. It was a lot easier than I expected and he's done great ever since. He's almost 11 months old and we rarely have issues getting him down for the night. It might be difficult at first (especially if he's crying!) but it gets easier!

We sleep trained our first at 6.5 months. For our second, we nap trained her around 5 months but was still nursing her to sleep at night. At around 9/10 months, she stopped waking up at night for feedings and shortly after that, we started putting her to bed awake. No fuss there since she was already napped trained to fall asleep on her own.

At 6 weeks my LO totally fought me when I was rocking him to sleep so we started putting him down awake then. He got the hang of it really quickly and he has been falling asleep on his own since. Now, if he ever fusses or cries at bedtime or nap time I get panicky because he doesn't respond to me soothing him to sleep.

There's been a few times that Mya (4 months old) was wide awake and ready to play at bedtime, and after rocking and struggling to get her to drift off, I put her in her crib to let her coo to herself and hoped she got bored. I folded laundry and tidied up, and was shocked when I went back in like 5 minutes later and she was crashed! It's only happened like 3 times, but we've been having bedtime issues lately so I'm afraid to try it and make it any harder.... :(

He's been falling asleep on his own since a month old approx. He seems to sleep much better when we put him down in his crib while he is awake.

We nap trained Charlie at 4 1/2 months so he's been able to fall asleep on his own since then.

We nap trained Olive at 8 months and she's been able to fall asleep on her own since then. Before that, I used to nurse her to sleep! But she'd only take super short naps. Now her naps can be over 2 hours.

DD has been falling asleep by herself since 3 weeks. At night after her bath she gets nursed and swaddled then I place her in her crib with her pacifier and she is out for 7 hours. She's almost 2 months now and has stuck with this routine. It makes me a little sad because with my son I had to rock/nurse him every time he went to sleep! I loved the closeness I had with him. Although, maybe she's just an easy baby? Does that seem weird or wrong to set her down and let her fall asleep by herself??

Cobi just hit 5 months last week, and I figured it was time for him to learn to fall asleep on his own... though I have to admit this was hard for me because I LOVE nursing him to sleep.

So today: He woke up from his first nap, I nursed him and then fed him some solids. We played for awhile until 1.5 hours had passed, then I swaddled him, drew his curtains and laid him in bed - kissing him and telling him I love him. I let him fuss and kinda cry for about 5ish minutes (if he had been really crying, I would have gotten him). I went in there, gave him his pacifier and said goodnight, walked out and he's asleep!!

I am truly so amazed. I know he still needs his pacifier, but that fact that he didn't need my boobs or my arms was so astounding to me.

This is just one nap though, so I'm not too hopeful yet. I'm sure he'll take some time to adjust and maybe a few more times before he can do it completely all the time.
