I'm down for date night sleepovers as soon as LO sleeps through the night consistently. I don't think anyone would take my baby before that. But to me that's essentially babysitting.

I would probably let LO go to a sleepover party in 3rd grade or so. I never slept a wink at sleepovers (or the first night I was anywhere, until I traveled for business in my 20s) so I was no peach the next day. I'm surprised my parents let me go to so many sleepovers.

So, I was allowed to sleep over only if it was a party and there were a group of us. That was a really big deal when we were around 4th grade.

As a result of that, I'd be fine if my son wanted to sleep over somewhere and I knew the parents, but he doesn't even want to sleep over at my parent's house in the same town. He says he misses us too much. So, when he asks for it, we'll try it.

I don't know that we will ever let her have sleepovers. Except maybe if she ends up being good friends with the daughter of one our best couple friends. For them we would probably do it almost as a "lets trade nights and have date nights" type thing and maybe when the girls were like 5+? If we allow other sleepovers it will be older. Like mid to late elementary I think.

Like legit sleepovers? I'd say elementary school.

She did a little before 2.5. I was out of town. DH had a last minute bachelor party for our neighbors. They have a 4 yr old and LO and her love each other. So she slept over there with the Mom while the guys went out. DH just had her sleep there instead of waking her in the middle of the night.

My first sleepover was in 5th grade so I will probably allow it at around 10 years old for school friends. All of my best friends' kids are much older than DD (10+) so it's hard to have play dates & sleep overs right now with such a big age gap.

My LO started having "sleepovers" at her best friend's house when she was 13 months old. The parents are very good friends of ours and we regularly keep each other's kids overnight to give each other a date night/day off from early morning wake up. To me, my comfort with sleepovers is all about my comfort level with the other parents, and less about my LO's age at the time. The girls are almost three now and they LOVE when they get to sleep at each other's houses.

If close friends wanted to host a sleepover (and she was already comfortable with them), as early as 2! Otherwise, probably elementary school.

If I was close friends with the parents, as soon as my kid expresses interest, and can communicate really well.

If I don't know the parents well, then probably sometime in elementary school? Maybe? I'm such an anxious mom ... I was going to say "never", but that's not realistic!

My parents never let me sleep over ever. But Charlie has slept over at a friend's 2 times and had a friend sleepover once. Olive tagged along to his last sleepover, and they'll be sleeping over again together this Friday.

Olive was 3 at her first sleepover, and Charlie was 4. Sleepovers when they're older are when the mischief starts!

3 is probably young, but we're all very close friends.

When do you think your LO will have their first friend sleepover?
