We have a 2 year 9 month age gap and don't use a double stroller. We live in the suburbs so we drive every where. I'm solo with them all week and haven't needed to use one. My older one is happy to walk or ride her bike. We've never been big fans of strollers anyway. Stopped using one with my first at 18 months.

We're getting a double and ours will be 28 months apart. I can see LO using it for 2 more years. She LOVES the stroller. I think we're going with a Mountain Buggy +one or Duet so it can be easily used as a single too.

We just traded our B-Agile in for a City Select and I plan to wait and see about adding the second seat. DS will be 26 months when #2 arrives this fall and I think it will be great to have the carseat attach to the stroller while DS is still able to ride. I have no idea if he will still want to sit in it next summer when he's closer to 3, so I plan to hold off on buying the second seat until then. I just wanted to have the option!

We were so excited about using our baby jogger city select with 2 seats, our LO are 22 mos apart. But by the time the weather has warmed up, and DS was just over 2, he wanted to walk all the time and it is hard to get him into the stroller. He will ride for longer walks. I'd think about a couple of accessories instead - like PPs have mentioned, a nicer umbrella stroller, carrier for baby if you don't have one you like, and you can get a jump board that fits on multiple strollers. We just got the Joovy bump rider and I love it, DS loves to ride on his "trailer" and it claims to hook onto any stroller. Also a wagon is great for slightly older kids, I see lots of parents at the zoo pulling wagons out (obviously you need a larger vehicle) and then you can load up lunch etc also.

@CupQuakeWalk: I'm considering the contours too. But something I've read in a lot of reviews, and my friend who has a tall 2 y/o said, is that the footrest kinda stinks. Her son's feet hang past the footrest awkwardly..if he puts his feet on it, his knees hit the bar thingy. I've been dying to see one in person! My friend has the options, but I like the optima (I think..I like the one with the parent tray).

we're likely gonna go with the britax b-agile double because I'm so used to my city mini single. they're virtually identical. I'm spoiled by the flat, comfy recline and the giant canopy.. I just really wanna play with a contours before FULLY deciding!!

The B agile has a buggy board attachment so if you already have the B agile I would stick with that for now and worry about a double when the second one arrives if it turns out to be a problem. Between the board, a decent carrier and an extra umbrella stroller you might be on great shape. Plus a lot of amusement parks have strollers to rent or you might have a friend who would lend you a double for those rare occasions you think it would help.

My kids have a 3 year gap and we live in a city with no car. We have a Bugaboo and bought the wheelie board to attach to the stroller so that my son can ride on it. He loves it. If I lived in suburbia with a 3 year gap, I would totally forego the double stroller.

Worse case scenario is that we also have a Maclaren, so if my son really needs a stroller, we take both strollers, but I think we have only done that once to go to the zoo.

@CupQuakeWalk: haha, it sounds like a hassle to me, because then you would be committed to a stroller the entire day. now with one stroller, we can take turns walking freely. But i would consider it under some circumstances.

eta. by the way, my sister has done the 2 stroller thing once for an all day excursion and it actually did work out okay.

@locavore_mama: I just checked my CL and there are 2...both for $150. If I was pregnant, i'd offer $130 and pick one up asap. But that'd be insane in my current situation :silly:

@californiadreams: no, no...you're onto something. That is what my dh suggested pretty much. He's like : "use the Britax b-agile for LO#2 (because car seat attaches) and then just get an umbrella stroller for #1 and we'll each take one. I doubt i'd be taking 2 kids out much anyway, especially without DH or a helpful relative/friend.

i am hoping to have LO#2 when LO#1 is close to 3 years old. I don't think i will need a double stroller for several reasons:

1) I have the UBV, so i am thinking the buggy board might be useful if LO#1 is tired and just doesn't want to walk sometimes.

2) Another big reason is that I know I will end up wearing the baby (LO#2) a lot the first year because I did that with LO#1 and used the stroller more as a storage for all my stuff. So I envision myself wearing the baby and LO#1 can still sit in the stroller like he does now until he is almost 4 years old!

3) I also have the b-agile (it was our first stroller and i finally upgraded to the UBV). So I figure if we are doing some all day excursion, i would not be alone as a PP mentioned, so we can even decide to bring both strollers and DH and I will each push one. I am not too sure about this last idea though.

@locavore_mama: gotch ya. Maybe consider a used Contours one then like the one I posted. They retail for 234.00 but I bet if you found it used it would then fall in your desired price range.

@hilsy85: me too, haha. I am comparing them and they are literally the exact same. @HLK208: i'd do that too! Just use it while N is in an infant seat ad then sell. They have great resale value from what i've seen on CL @chopsuey: I like too! But I think i'll take @Pancakes: advice and not actually purchase until I have 2 and we are actually going somewhere. They sell it at my BRU.

I have a nearly 2.5 year old and use the stroller nearly every day for running. I don't think I'd not get a double until he's comfortably riding a bike along next to me. We city-like suburbs and even though he's street saavy I would not walk anywhere on the busier streets with an infant in the stroller and the boy walking. Not sure if that helps or not. Maybe just take a wait and see approach?

I am still debating. They will be 28 months apart. It'll be nice to have for when I go out solo with them. At the mall, etc. But if I do I'll be looking used with a max $150 budget.

My biggest issue is I don't think she'll want to sit or stand, contained. But it will be nice to have for all day excursions for nap time.

The only stroller I needed with the 3 year age gap was the double BOB - I love running too much and although it was a pain to take through stores, it was still a lifesaver when B needed a nap out in public!

ETA: E will be 25 months when N is born and we're planning on using the b-ready...but...it doesn't fit in our car with the third row :bummed: so I'm looking into getting the uppababy g-luxe for E and just wearing N if she'll tolerate it

@chopsuey: I can't imagine a kid of like 1.5yr staying put back there because I know my son's whole desire is to be able to people watch.

is this good looking? (yes: I am that shallow)

@CupQuakeWalk: oh man, I think it's so sad to put anything older than 6 months in the back seat. My kids love being able to see everything in front of them.
I think it also depends on how long you plan on strolling around for, if you have a laid back baby who doesn't mind chillin back there.. :P :)

@CupQuakeWalk: definitely! IF I were going to get a double, I would try to get a lightweight one, like a maclaren side by side or a city mini double (both used obvi) or the combi double that mrs bee has recommended before.

I figure by the time I"m confident to take 2 kids on an all day adventure (will that ever happen?!) they'll both be old enough that an umbrella type stroller will be enough, I won't need anything more heavy duty.
