@Mrs.Pinecone316: This is super helpful - thank you!

Besides sucking up my embarrassment about my poor Spanish and asking his daycare providers for more feedback...

...I think I also need to get more creative about finger foods. LO is not so great at the mechanics of chewing yet. He clearly wants to feed himself more, but, it is a tough balance to find things that are firm enough to survive the trip from his tray to his mouth while still being soft enough for him to eat.

My LO is 10 months, her Nanny feeds her so I don't have to pack anything but at home we are doing 3 meals a day. She doesn't want purees anymore now that she has had "real food"

Some ideas for Breakfast:
Mix Oatmeal with fruit puree (4 oz)
Yogurt and banana slices (4 oz)
Scrambles eggs and avocado
kodiac pancakes and cut up blueberries or strawberries

Lunch Ideas
- I do a lot of dinner leftovers here, or..

-pieces of cheese and lunch meat
-veggies (organic frozen bag of mixed veggies, I will boil a small amount and separate them into 2 oz glass jars for different meals) she also loves steamed broccoli- again I put it in 2 oz jars
-rice
-mashed potatoes
-beans
-cut up chicken or steak

I found 2 oz glass jars off amazon, its easy to put veggies in one, meat in another if you want to meal plan and make a few meals at a time with leftovers from dinner and just send a couple jars per meal.

I would talk to daycare. They should be able to tell you if it seems average amount to eat or not or if he still seems hungry. I don't k ow about quarries because I usually just give our LO enough until she, like others mentioned, starts throwing food or taking her bib off. Some examples though- she'll eat a whole baba a as a snack or half with say 1 whole small pancake. A whole clementine with some crackers. A whole string cheese with say 1/4 cup of veggie like green beans. 1/4 cup of soup with a side of a few veggie pieces. I do have to say that our daycare provides food and that simplifies things so much!

@NeekieRose: Yup -- which is amazing for language immersion for LO, but, sometimes tough for us communicating with them!

@lilyofthewest: That sounds about right for us. Sometimes she eats everything in sight, other times she just picks at things. Does your daycare provider only speak Spanish?

@NeekieRose: I'm psyching myself up to be brave and just do my best with my poor Spanish to see if the daycare has any feedback for me. They send home anything he didn't eat (though I have no idea how much ends up on the floor...). Some days he eats everything, some days most of his food comes home with him.

Like @PawPrints, our daycare provides food so I'm not sure how much she is eating. But at 10 months, DD2 eats a ton at home. Usually more than her 2 year old sister.

Have you asked daycare if he is eating everything? They are going to be your best indication of whether or not you are sending enough.

Our DD (10 months) has food provided for her at daycare so I'm not totally clear on the quantities she eats, but the report card we get every day shows her eating a morning snack (fruit and something else), lunch (often a veggie burger with bun and fruit/vegetable side), and an afternoon snack (fruit, crackers, cheese).

On weekends, she doesn't eat a ton of the food we offer her, just gobbles up what she wants and then starts throwing the rest on the floor (or very carefully offering it to the dogs, outstretched hand and grinning face and everything). She will always eat grapes and clementines though, those are like her addiction.

How much solid food does/did your 9-10mo old eat?

I don't know if I'm packing enough food (or enough variety) for LO to have at daycare.

When baby is at home with us, for a meal I generally prepare 1-2oz of a fruit or veg that I know he'll eat and otherwise share things from our plates. That seems to work well and he's right there to directly demand more/different food.

I'm less sure about what, or how much, to pack for two meals at daycare.

What worked well for you?
