Grilled kielbasa and honey dijon mustard. Marcona almonds. Or peppered salami with aged cheddar cheese and crackers.

ETA: You all are making me hungry!

@honeybear: Yeah, it's not the healthiest, but it's really good. We had a "fancy" version at our wedding because it's such an "us" food. Our caterer made it with phyllo dough and like an asiago cream cheese kind of spread rather than cheez wiz. Also delicious.

@Mrs D: I love TJ's! And olives are a great idea.

@WinterBee: Shrimp = brilliant. Shelled shrimp and forks should work to contain the potential mess. I love red pepper jelly, but I guess I've been missing out, because I usually serve it with cream cheese or cheddar. I'm going to try it with Brie, for sure! ;)

@looch: Both. Dates are a good idea! My objective is to prevent (to an extent) a ton of sticky/greasy fingerprints and parents having to hover extensively to help children eat. I aim for a mix of super child-friendly and more adult-pleasing fare.

@littlebug: I'm intrigued by these asparagus spear rolls. I'm going to play around with that recipe!

@erinbaderin: Yes, those are good dip ideas.

Thank you!!!

I second bacon wrapped dates. I stuff them with a little goat cheese and bake them in the oven. So good.

Hummus, baba ganoush, and pitas (or pita chips) are a good easy one.

My BIL always makes bacon-wrapped pineapple for parties and it gets devoured. Meatballs are easy (I do mini ones in the crockpot with ketchup and ginger ale) but can be messy. A favorite at our parties is asparagus rolls (cut crust off of bread, flatten with a rolling pin, spread cheez wiz, roll up a spear of asparagus, dip in butter, dip in parmesan cheese, bake).

Are they for kids or adults? I find every one seems to like bacon wrapped dates (cooked in the oven).

@honeybear: We do app/game nights with friends frequently. A crowd fave is bree, crackers with a red pepper jelly... sooooo good! But, probably not the best for kids so I would keep that at the adult table.
We also have;
Shrimp tray, kielbasa, chips, veggies, fruit, usually some kind of cookie/brownie, tositios and layered dip (sour cream, salsa, cream cheese, can add guac- yum!).
We also have a hot app or two as well; jalapeno poppers, mozza sticks, bacon wrapped scallops, meatballs.
There's lots of great snacks at M&M's if you have one nearby.

I always do a cheese board...so easy. Three kinds of cheese, grapes, figs, jar of honey and some crackers. Trader Joes is the best for cheese/meats/dried fruit.

I add stuffed olives to it as well some times.

Trader Joe's also has a lot of bite sized treats - one bite so less crumbs!

My routine appetizers are raw veggies and bread/crackers and cheese, but I would love some additional ideas for relatively easy appetizers. I am especially interested in things that don't produce enormous quantities of crumbs and aren't sticky, since small children make up a large percentage of our social group! :)

If you're having families over for drinks/appetizers, what food do you serve?
