How funny! Everyone tells me that girls are easier when they're younger but harder when they're older (teens). Darn. I was hoping girls were easier since we're having a girl this time!!

@Mrs. Jacks: lol whaaat!?! I've never heard that, every mom told me boys are easier (I have a boy). And I would have to agree. I was a really naughty toddler, okay during the middle years (4-12) then my teenager years I was horrible. My brothers never put my parents thru half of what I did.

and YES. Toddler girls are just as crazy. I think gender plays no role at that age.. for the most part. I've seen mellow boys and girls alike - but mostly they're all crazy at that age. It's an age of exploration, learning, curiosity, testing boundaries - they learn soo much and soak up everything.

Yeah, she's pretty busy. And covered in scrapes and bruises, it's a dangerous business being two! Especially if you won't take your hands out of your pockets when running.

@Mrs. Jacks: I see no difference between DD and her boy friends. I think people lie when they say girls are easier!

And I'm planning on telling my husband that we need to up DD's swim lessons to every week instead of every other week from now on!

DD is an animal lately. Today we went to the beach, and for the two seconds I turned my back to put up our pop-up tent, she ran neck-deep into the lake! I had to run out there, and literally wrestle her back to shore because (even though the water is only about 50 degrees) she wanted to "kickey my leggies, mommy!"

In hindsight, it's funny, but at the time I was kinda freaking out!

I see little difference between Lala and all her friends (all boys). Today her best buddy was being accomplice while Lala climbed a 6 ft ladder in our backyard. I only knew because her friend was saying "get down? Get down?". But when she was younger I feel like she was more calm than the boys!

@mrbee: Yup! I have three sisters and one much younger brother, along with lots of cousins. Personality seemed to have more to do with activity level than sex. Of course the type of play you encourage/allow makes a difference too.

I was a wild little kid, and had a temper. My younger sister busted the back of her head when she flipped over the couch trying to jump on dad's back. I don't think you get out of that stuff by having girls!

DD is a constant ball of energy. She stopped napping at 15 months for pete's sake. But what she doesn't do is play rough. I think that is more of a boy thing. However, girls with older brothers also play rough since they learn it from them so you might see that with Olive.

"I'm sure it's just as likely to have super active girls as super active boys."

@Minnie_Girl: Has that been your experience?

Encourage one to play ball and encourage one to play with dolls, and how active will they seem?

Do you ever wonder what life would be like if your LO was the opposite gender?

I never wondered that about Charlie, and then I saw a number of posts from parents of boys about it... the parents were saying that boys were harder, and that sometimes they wish they had had a girl instead.

Anyway I dismissed the thought, but lately Charlie has been such a handful! Every night before he goes to bed, he climbs up on his crib and jumps off of it to the floor below... several times. Do girls do things like this?

I guess I'm wondering: what are 2-year-old girls like... do they run around like crazy too? Are small boys more energetic than small girls, on average?
