Not sure how long it will last (we don't exactly have green thumbs in my house) but my son is thrilled to have acquired a venus flytrap. It's sort of the badass superhero of the plant world.

Our rosemary and parsley always seem to thrive, even when we slack off on caring for them. Kale has been really easy also, but might be harder to grow that indoors.

We have an aerogarden and it's really fun! You can grow herbs, peppers, tomatoes or flowers. It's pretty foolproof and really fun to watch the plants grow from the first little sprout. Sometimes I swear you can see it growing. Some people say the stuff you grow tastes different because it's hydroponic, not in soil but everything I've grown tastes good. For kids, I think it'd be awesome!

I teach first grade and every year my class grows sunflowers they are so easy to grow. We do them in clear plastic cups and put a few seeds close to the edge and that way the children can watch the different stages the seed goes through. They take them home to replant them when they get too big for the cup.

The only plants we have indoors are orchids and some succulents. We have rosemary outdoors but they're pretty hearty plants - maybe they'd work indoors too. Cilantro is pretty easy too.

Pepper plants are fun! I think Rahlyrah has a little lemon tree indoors. You can grow just about any herb in your windowsill too. I'll keep thinking!

You can grow cherry tomatoes inside! What about other herbs, if they like oregano? Basil, rosemary, mint?

I think basil works inside but I haven't had one that has survived my black thumb. We do tomatoes outside and those have done well the last few summers.

We recently got some oregano plants for the kids, and it's been an ideal plant! It grows like crazy, doesn't mind direct sunlight, has survived my black thumb, and the kids can't wait to eat it.

Any other plants or herbs that are easy to raise and fun for kids?
