You can grow herbs, peppers, tomatoes or flowers. It's pretty foolproof and really fun to watch the plants grow from the first little sprout. Sometimes I swear you can see it growing. Some people say the stuff you grow tastes different because it's hydroponic, not in soil but everything I've grown tastes good. We do them in clear plastic cups and put a few seeds close to the edge and that way the children can watch the different stages the seed goes through. We have rosemary outdoors but they're pretty hearty plants - maybe they'd work indoors too.
