Here's a good article on what macros are and why some people use them (and when not to use them): http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/to-macro-or-not-should-you-track-your-macro-intake.html

for me, they've been instrumental in building back the lean mass I loss during pregnancy and dropping fat, while keeping (and adding) to that mass. And no, that doesn't mean I got bulky  It's about the building blocks of food to support certain goals (this is where the ratios change). IE someone who lifts a lot of heavy weights needs protein to support that! Whereas a marathon runner needs more carbs

The amount of carbohydrates, fat and protein in your diet. Some people believe you should have higher ratios of protein to fat and carbohydrates, some people believe it should be higher in fat and some believe it should be higher in carbohydrate :)

Macros are just the amount/ratio of carbs, protein, fat, etc you are ingesting. I track them because I log with myfitnesspal and it does them.

I keep seeing people mentioning that they pay attention to their 'macros' in regards to eating. What are they? And how do you pay attention to them?
