Man, all of these makes me want to preemptively think of some snappy comebacks!! But I am terrible with coming up with good comebacks in the moment, and then I spend the next few hours mentally coming up with something good, but for no point, haha.

Of all people, my MOM was really concerned about my cat and the baby. She kept saying how babies smell like milk and cats like to lay on top of them.

First of all, my cat has been through one baby already and didn't kill it. In fact, she was a really good cat and had great manners with him...That baby is 5 years old now and friends with the cat, lol.. The cat is 8...far from being a crazy kitten or anything.

. I asked her to tell me ONE instance she knew of where someone said a cat killed/hurt their baby and she then realized she was being old-school paranoid, lol.

Soo many people asked if it was planned, what an awkward question! Now that he's here had someone tell DH that if we kept him up all day he'd sleep the whole night haha!

@Mrs. Train: The fact that your sons chimed in at the end is just the best part! I hope I can come up with quick responses like that.

@cherrybee: Um, OK- wow. That's really special. Unbelievable.

I just started telling people at work this week. I got my first "Was it planned?" I just don't get it-- I mean, it's rude under any circumstances, but I've been married for over 2 years, it's obvious to anyone who has seen me near a baby that I love babies, I'm 31... and you think this happened because I forgot about birth control? But she is much younger, like 24, and I think she just doesn't realize how rude or weird it is so I just said, yes, very much. When I told my boss, she was nice enough to say she couldn't tell at all and I didn't seem tired or nauseous or anything-- I had my head down on my desk a few times. That was nice of her to say.

@travellingbee: This lit made me gasp. I can see how it may be hard for her to see someone else prego. But that seriously was redic for her to be saying stuff like that. Good on you for saying something. OMG seriously!!!

@Cherrybee: Wow....this persons sounds like a (insert not nice name here) that is just rude as heck!
In regards to the first one...thats something I still dont get. Why do people feel the need to know if it was planned or not? Thats a really personal question. I would ask a REALLY close friend of family member that MAYBE...but not just anyone.

@Mrs. Train: You have AWESOME come backs. I applaud you.

@Mrs. Pen: you could have said " all you old moms, constantly thinking a baby who can't walk and who's feet never touch the ground need to be constantly covered." I used to get it all the time at our church from all the little old ladies.

Wen I had all three boys in a stroller I think I heard at least five times "you do know what causes this whole baby thing don't you?" I told one gentleman (on a day I was feeling particularly feisty) that I knew exactly what caused it. Two years of heartache and failed fertility treatments, one adoption and a fortunate blessing from god. That's what caused this whole baby thing.

Just the other day I was at the grocery store. All I needed was milk and pasta. One of my sons was throwing a giant fit all day but I had no choice so we went. He was quietly whimpering the whole time we were in the store and every once in awhile he'd yell at his brothers to leave him alone he didn't want to be at the sore. Compared to the heathen he had been earlier he wasn't all that bad. I had a woman come up to me and tell me if a child doesn't wan to go grocery shopping I should make him. I looked at her and said " respectfully mam you have no right to comment on my parenting. You have no clue who I am and under what circumstances I have come to find myself at the store today. I am a good mom who happens to need two things from the store to make my kids a healthy homemade dinner. I have one son who happens to be having an off day but I had no choice but to bring him. If you feel the need to comment on my parenting choices just tell a friend about the crazy lady with four kids at a store instead of questioning my parenting in front of my children. I hope that you have a nice day." Then I walked away. As I walked away two of my sons yelled "have a nice day mam." I couldn't help but laugh a little.

I normally don't say anything back but thirst are two examples when someone caught me on a feisty day.

Okay, so today it happened! I had a comment that shocked me!! Well, two actually, but one was way worse than the other!! My news has been doing the rounds of the office. Firstly today one of my colleagues asked me if the pregnancy was planned! Harsh but I expected it at least one then.

Then..... a colleague I hardly know said she knew I was pregnant because Id put on weight. I tapped my tummy and joked it was mostly fat... and she said "I know, its all on your face. You've got a fat little face. How much have you put on, anyway? I'm surprised they're not monitoring your weight more closely. Youre going to be enormous at this rate".

I have no words......

A coworker of mine had gone through a miscarriage/preterm birth at 20 weeks last year. She told me (starting at 13 weeks when I told everyone) that she didn't want me to get my hopes up about this pregnancy and then kept continually telling me about how I might lose the baby. Every little symptom I had, she shake her head and say, "Yep I had that too. Be careful."I know it was because of her experience but who tells a pregnant woman that they are going to lose their baby? I finally had to tell her (after she told me at 26 weeks that my Braxton Hicks contractions were a sign of preterm labor) that it really wasn't helpful and I will listen to my doctor, Thank you. Jeesh!

There was a woman at work who insisted that pregnant people shouldn't wear heels. I wore them all the time pretty much up until my maternity leave, and she would comment every time I saw her, "When are you going to stop wearing heels? You know, they're dangerous for pregnant people!" Um...no.

The "Look how big you are!" comments were also plentiful.

I'm wracking my brain trying to think of things people have said. It was mostly things like "are you sure you're not having twins" and things like that. I think the most frustrating comments were probably from young women who were around my age but nowhere near thinking about children yet. Things like "omg I would so choose to have a c-section, I don't want my vag to get all stretched out" (for the record, mine is waaaaay tighter after pushing out 2 kids with 99th percentile heads) and "ewwwww breastfeeding". Lovely. I always just shake my head, smile, and say something to the effect of "I thought that way too, before I got pregnant." And I just sit back and watch as they are all getting pregnant around me and all of a sudden they are writing out ten page all-natural birth plans, crying at the idea of a c-section, and swearing they'll BF for 2 years or more.

@prettylizy: haha. For the record, WJ started biting me well after he got teeth (he got his first teeth by 3.5 months). He actually bit me after both the top and bottom teeth were in. Super painful but obviously, with all the other painful things moms go through, it wasn't that big of a deal! and he only bit me two or three times before he learned not to. Congrats for being so close to 12 months :D I only made it to 7!

I replied "No, actually full term isn't until 37 weeks and most babies are born at 40 weeks or later." She rolled her eyes and said "Well you do whatever you want to do, but I had MY son at seven months and he was FINE!"

@Bao: @septemberlove: WHAT??? Wow! I have had people pretty much try to hand me "excuses" of why I will fail, and thats its OK. But not to NOT do it all together. Crazy!

@Phillybaby2013: Ummm....HECK NO!!

@MerryC: Noooo stinking way!!!!!

I remembered another...I was at a jewelry party thing like a month ago or so. A gal who was PG with her 2nd was just about 22 weeks pg. I told her "yay, two more weeks until "viability" (she has had a few MC) and she got snarky and told me "ummm NO, my doc said my baby would be JUST FINE if I had her right now!"
WOW OK! But seriously...what doc would say you would be just fine delivering at not even 22 weeks (of course I did NOT say that, I said nothing)
Which then two other women (who have children) went on about why then if we can deliver at "22weeks" do doctors push you and want you to go to 40 weeks, how much easier it would be if they would just "let us" have them around 20 something weeks.
*blink*blink* REALLY PEOPLE???

Crazy!

I get the discouraging breastfeeding comments often too. I don't know why people discourage it.
