It is extremely rich and so just off the wall amazing. 12 layers sound like a lot but really the layers are more like crepes that actual cake layers. I have a major sweet tooth, but that dish is usually too sweet for me, but it is yummy! rasmalai has cheese balls in a creamy sauce, and kheer is rice pudding. And @T-Mom: yes, I love kulfi too, but I haven't had it in so long that I couldn't remember the name! Someone once told me it's like super creamy ice cream because it has very little water content. But yeah the Portuguese kind, which I discovered last year, are sooo good too. The tops are more sweet/carmelized... And the pastry cup is more flaky.... just like the pp described. Oh and the inside is more fluffy. </p> <p>In NYC, check them out at Choco Bolo. They are called Pastel de Nata.
