We had the same problem (although I definitely didn't wash every night). We got the nalgene one like @muffinsmuffins for the baby (now 2 and still going strong).
We got these for my 4 year old last year and no mold yet.
I get mold in every single kind of straw bottle so I've given up on them. I don't want to keep replacing straws or have to stick them in the fridge all the time.

We use the nalgene kids bottles which aren’t a straw bottle but only have lid, rubber thing and cup. No hidden spots. https://www.nalgene.com/product/2182-2612/

Ick. We've tried washing and drying straw bottles with q tips, but they still get moldy. If she's able to deal with a screw-top bottle, maybe try that instead?

FWIW, the mold never made anyone sick even though we didn't catch the problem right away :bummed:

I recently noticed the same thing with the same exact cup. So grossed out because it seems eventually I notice mold on all of my sons cups. I ordered the simple keep or toss cups with lids and straws, and also these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6C0KET/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

There doesn't seem to be any area that can be missed/unreachable when cleaning.

we hand wash, and occasionally I'll use a straw brush, but not usually, and we've never had mold. I'm not sure what we're doing right!

I use the Contigo bottles and we haven’t had a problem. We put them in the dishwasher instead of hand washing, and use heated dry.

@Ajsmommy: we use the same bottles. We hand wash and use munchkin straw and spout brushes to get into all the crevices. Where you insert the straw there are two rubbery pieces that pull out for a better clean

@Ajsmommy: do you use heated dry? I feel like that helps prevent the mold issue. I put all the bottle parts in the dishwasher for that reason.

But contiguo has a lifetime guarantee. I would try to get a replacement one from them! I had a few where the rubber band piece that is in the lid popped out and the replaced them, although it is an annoying process to get it.

I second thermos bottles. We had a bunch of the camelbaks and they all got mold in the lid. We have had the thermos ones for over a year with no issues.

Aww I'm sorry!

We use Thermos bottles and there is no mold at all you can physically see and get to every crevice (which there really aren't any). It's literally 4 pieces - The top/lid, sprout, staw and bottle.

We purchased some of these Contigo bottles for DD to take to preschool, she takes one every day.

When she brings them home I empty them and rinse them and pull off the straw (that is still attached to the top), then DH washes and puts in dishwasher..... I was happy with them UNTIL I noticed mold is forming where the straw attaches to the top... there is a small soft plastic piece and there is mold there!!! :bummed: :bummed: What the heck.. what are we doing wrong.. I feel like every single sippy cup/thermos/ you name it gets gross and moldy
