I'm on the minipill and hate it. got my "period" way earlier than any if my friends, but then a really early "period," and now nothing for 2 months. With the timing, it was possible that the early period could be implantation bleeding... So I was freaked out for the longest time that I was pregnant again (despite four pg tests saying negative.) the doctor's office says this is all par for thr course with the minipill. Joy. If we didn't want to start trying again soon I'd look into an iud, but a friend told me those take a long time to get out of your system.

I went on the mini pill and it was fine. The problem with it isn't the pill itself - it's effectiveness is just slightly lower than the normal pill I think. The thing is that you have to take it within a 3 hour timeslot EVERY day. If you don't then you need to take other precautions for 7 days. It's fairly simple but it's easier for people to blame the mini-pill than themselves for stuffing up the timing.

I’m going back on the Mirena IUD, which is fine to get inserted right after pregnancy. IUDs do not fall out frequently. According to my OB, in more clinic type settings where doctors prefer to insert an IUD literally right after birth (because of fears the mother won’t return for follow up visits) the expulsion rate is almost 10%, but that’s because your uterus is still so large from just birthing a baby. My OB generally inserts them at your 6 week post-partum visit, but said it’s no problem to do it earlier.

We just use condoms. I thought about the mini-pill, but I've known too many people with second children nicknamed "minipill."

mini pill and hating it, tons of break through bleeding in the beginning, not knowing that I really needed to take it at the same exact time every day.
I don't really trust it 100%, but with our family planning time line I am OK if ends up failing us at this point

I didnt want to take anything hormonal after Liv came, so I use Conceptrol (its a gel you insert before every time you DTD) when we do it. Im 8 months pp and still BFing, and NOT planning any more any time soon, so Im going to talk to my OB about a copper IUD. I just want to avoid hormones altogether

Not pregnant yet, but after #1, we'll probably do NFP until we're ready for #2. After that, I'm not sure...

Minipill was not for me. For maximum effectiveness, you need to take it the same time everyday. There's a 3hr window, but the closest to the same time daily is best. I just could not do that post-partum!

After my first baby, I got Mirena. Loved it. Would def recommend it to new moms who hate taking a pill everyday. I never had issues with insertion or infection... No issues at all. The only thing is, when I wanted to TTC again I wanted it out right away, but had to wait weeks for a Dr appt... Just poor planning on my part.

I took the mini pill for six months while fully nursing. Once my kids started eating rice cereal I switched to the full dose. The mini pull is not 100 percent andas soon as the kids start eating a little you should switch. It didn't effect my milk supply I still had plenty to feed my twins

Lots of women take the minipill, but it's not fool proof! One of the girls on HB got pregnant while on the minipill and she has 2 babies now that are 13 months apart!

I was on the pill before baby, but I plan to breastfeed once LO arrives. I know there's BCP you can take while BF, but I wondered if anyone out there has taken them and what your experience was. I'm also thinking about an IUD but I've heard they fall out frequently. All I know, is we definitely don't want any "surprises" while this LO is still in diapers! What are you ladies going to use post baby?
