my husband is impossible to shop for too so i decided to go big this year and get him a treadmill that he has been talking about getting for years. I ordered one on black friday and am having it delivered on December 16. I am hoping to hide it in the spare bedroom in our basement (we never go in there) and then i paid a fee to have someone come put it together for me a few days before xmas.....i really hope i can keep him from seeing it before the 24th!!

OK. Not that anyone is still reading this, but I want to announce I am done with shopping!!!!

I ended up buying DH some college football branded apparel and work gloves, a traveling coffee mug that is dishwasher safe (or it claims) and made in UK, and a carving board that is made in Europe, which is intended for cooked meat and we don't have one for that. He was struggling with it just the past weekend. DH is very adamant about food items not being manufactured in China and he cooks really good food when he cooks.

I almost bought him this fancy "Himalayan salt block" thing for cooking/grilling, but I read reviews where some people's salt blocks exploded into a thousand pieces. I was like OK never mind I am not cleaning that up lol

I also took DS to the shop today and asked him what does he want to get for Daddy. I suggested (a bit boring, as that's what we did last year) that we'll buy frames and he'll draw some pictures and we'll frame it. DS suggested we can get the frames from Michael's. We did, went home and drew, he drew a football field with DH's college team, and a family portrait. :)

Then on Friday I am planning to go out with a girlfriend and to paint pottery plates. I am thinking of painting a serving platter with our family on it. let's see how well / if it remotely works out :)

Thank you so much for everyone's ideas!!!! xoxoxoxo

I wanted to get him Google home but it's not out in Canada. Maybe check that out! It's pretty cool. I suck at getting DH things and I told him that's what I wanted to get if it was available and he said it looked cool.

I still don't know what to get my husband for his Christmas gift. He just hard to buy gifts for, he has everything..

He really want a baby to complete out little family. He would be THRILLED if I got pregnant while on the pills. Even if it just an Oops baby, he still would be sooo happy. He been waiting patiencely for me to give him a baby..
Perhaps I should give him his baby wish for this Christmas. He really want me to get off my birth control pills so nature can take it's course.

(Beside a baby), he has everything he wanted. I don't know what to get for him and don't know what can I get for him.
He Debt-free, we both are and we both are not big spender, life is comfy for us despite we live in a HCOL state.
He make decent income, he make in the low six-figures. ugh.. but there is a price for that yearly income, he has to work long hours (he work 70 hours a week).:-(

For a guy who make six-figures, Debt-free, no kids. He doing fine by himself Solely with his income alone. Like he need my help?
................
So me? What can a girl with only a High school diploma (No college degree) like me do or get for him? I dunno; perhaps it time to stop testing his and love and patience, perhaps it time to give him his baby wish.. I'm 31, going on 32 (I'm not young anymore).
He 30, for a guy age 30 is not old at all.. But me? I'm not young--my childbearing age is ticking. If I want to give him his baby wish, I should start thinking now, times doesn't wait for anybody.

Normally DH is the worst to buy for. He's super particular and returns most things, plus I always have everyone else asking me for ideas for him. But this year we bought a house, so family gifts are all things for us for the house (MIL bought us the kitchen chairs we picked out and we are psyched!) and DH and I are doing smaller gifts for each other. But the big thing is- he is a big time Cubs fan, so I have gotten him a few Cubs World Series champions things- official t short, some pj pants, and some cool pint glasses, plus a Christmas ornament. Thank you Cubs for the easy Christmas!!

@irene: we did our gifts to each other on Christmas Eve! Ours were 3 and 8 months though so they didn't think it was weird that mom and dad didn't exchange gifts.

I got a frame that comes in a leather case so that it looks like a book. Vintage on Etsy! I got the pictures printed online.

@mrsrain: I thought about it once upon a time, but he's such a "particular" person. With cooking classes here they mostly happen on saturday and sunday, so it will become stressful with the childcare situation. I am guessing at the end he'd be indifferent about it while complaining about how difficult it turned out to be to securing child care.

You gave me an idea though... maybe I can arrange a real date on 2/14 so we can really go out without DS. We have NEVER been able to go out on Valentine's day since DS was born because we were always so last minute, and all the sitters are usually booked. Hmm.Just so scared I don't know how to the wind blows as he may really dislike it (He would always say, well I may be traveling for work that day, or we may be sick that day, so how could you book so much in advance... blah blah), and then I can't "return" it.

We never have a budget for each other's gifts so here's what I've done in the past:

Boudoir pic in a nice frame.
Collage of date night pics
Put a little monogram on some handkerchiefs
Fimo thumbprint key fob (you can get metal bezels to set the fimo in so that the fimo doesn't get beat up by constant use)
Groupon for homebrew class
DD for a guy's night out

@irene: I can so relate to you--my DH is the same with technology! We've said in previous years we weren't going to buy each other gifts because we have too much stuff, but can't really swing the expense of a big experience this year like previous. But I half expect dh to end up getting me stuff, like he did last year. Fortunately I had gotten a pic of our LO as a newborn framed & some lovely new ties & sweaters for him, so I wrapped those up.

@irene: DH is totally the same about electronics -- research research research and then walk up and down the aisles with him at the store for an hour and we leave with nothing. Gah!

Still trying to think about what to get him. Nothing too extravagant though.

@irene: Your DH sounds just like mine in the gift department. He is a techie, so the things he would love are the things he'd rather buy himself. And he does buy them - if there's a tech toy he wants he gets it. So there's literally nothing left for me to get.

This year I am getting something practical but I think he'll enjoy it. We got a new car and the manufacturer makes all-weather mats custom to make/model/etc (similar to WeatherTech). So I ordered those and had them delivered to my parents house where we'll be staying.

I also got him a cashmere sweater randomly. I saw it at TJ Max and it was such a good deal I figured what the heck.

@irene: haha! The last couple years I declared no presents for each other and then chickened out two weeks before Christmas cuz I figured the only person who would be getting me anything for Christmas was my mom! And I can't stand the idea of getting nothing. I'm such a baby!

@Mrsbells: @snowjewelz: and everyone who replied that you don't do gifts anymore...... I ENVY YOU GUYS :crying: I would have voted for NO GIFTS if I had a choice! The thing is I have said that before to him, he would just say oh don't worry about buying me a gift. And then he'd turn around and get me 3 gifts and I'd feel terrible. Then whatever I got most of the time is wrong. So I am stuck :( GRRRRR.

A monogrammed suitcase from Away (for his work travel..ugh), permission to buy another computer to run another server at home for a media center (ugh), and we're getting a new king bed/bed frame so thats sort of our big gift. Also a framed print for his office of him and LO from our family photo session.

Last year I got him a gift card to a board game subscription service. But then we had a kid and he never actually redeemed it because our game nights became a lot more irregular with two kids.

This year his big present (and DS who's 2.5) is a Gorilla Gym set for the door frame. I got the kids attachements so it's a pull up bar for DH and a swing/climbing thing for DS. I think they are going to love it!

I just ordered him a Mission belt (no hole belt that has really good reviews) and perhaps will get him something from the college where he just started his MBA? We are keeping it simple..
