I fully plan on taking every pain medication there is during labour (epidural? yes please!) but the recovery just sounds like it can go on and on and on. Factor in the exhaustion and stress from taking care of a newborn baby and the recovery process absolutely terrifies me. </p> <p>It also doesn't help that all five of my best friends have all had children now and shared every detail with me - there is so much more to recovery than I had ever anticipated. I plan to get an epidural so that helps wit the fear of delivery, and it can only go on so long... and it's a means to an end, you know it will be over soon and then you have a baby. But the recovery can take forever. And you have to deal with that while also taking care of a brand new baby! I also tend to be a crazy hypochondriac. When I'm delivering I'll be surrounded by medical professionals who can answer questions. Mine ended up being horrific with complications sending me back to the hospital 2 weeks later, total of 4 weeks before I was really up and about again, and I had a vaginal birth with only a very "easy" tear. For me, it's easy to face the fear of delivery since it's quick compared to the mystery of recovery.
