I just packed tomorrow's lunch! It's roast beef and cheese "sushi," carrots, cherry tomato, and cornichon (we are exposing to pickles and tomatoes which he so far dislikes), strawberries, and a few marshmallows and a gummy vitamin. This is a snack size Yumbox for my 2 year old and he gets a thermos of milk. He gets two snacks at school in the morning and afternoon so I don't pack huge lunches.

Tomorrow is LO's first lunch I'm packing and to make it special I think I'm going to do the mac and cheese he's requesting. The next day will probably be some sliced turkey, cheese, and crackers. I'll serve both with fruit and see what other healthy things he wants to choose.

Our preschool doesn't allow popcorn, as it's too much of a choking hazard. For snacks I always pack a fruit and a protein like apple slices and cheese or turkey and orange slices. Lunch she gets leftovers from dinner, but always a veggie, a protein and a grain. So shredded chicken, carrot sticks, and whole wheat noodles. I throw in a treat like Annie's cookies or chocolate chips.

@gingerbebe: my DD loves homemade lunchables! I make ham and cheese ones everyone she goes to mother's morning out or she needs a lunch for something. I have been wanting to make pizza ones also with sandwich thins.

We recently bought a sandwich toaster - those things we had in college to make sandwich pockets - just for preschool meals. My son is not really into sandwiches but the pressed/grilled factor seems to flatten the sandwich and make it tasty enough to eat. We've done pizza pocket ones and ham and cheese ones. I make them, cut them into quarters and let them cool. He eats them at room temp.

Other things we have ready for lunch are those tiny chicken and cilantro wontons, tortellini, pigs in a blanket, corn dog bites, and I bought some Canadian bacon to make homemade Lunchables. You could also make savory mini muffins like crumbled taco meat and cheese, or pepperoni and cheese, broccoli and cheese, etc.

Ahh. I am so sad because we dont get to pack lunches anymore but we do pack spoon-free snacks. Can you pack with an ice pack? So far these are the things I've packed for snacks with a cooler:

- fruit: grapes, tangerines, apple slices, blueberries, bananas
- chicken and cheese mini sandwiches
- sunflower seed butter and jelly mini sandwiches
- homemade oat banana raisin chocolate mini muffins
- cheese sticks
- yogurt sticks
- hard-boiled quail eggs
(Hardboiled eggs maybe a good idea for lunch)
- carrot sticks (not a hit)
- edamame (haven't done that yet)

@Anagram: yes my girl also asked for chicken nuggets and don't mind that they are cold/room temp.

I do lunch meat ham and cheese and crackers a lot.

I made the mistake of way over packing her first few weeks of Kindergarten. But she ate her leftover lunch as an afternoon snack.

We have been doing a variety of fruit/berries with the following:
mac and cheese (penne pasta)
sunbutter sandwich
grilled cheese sandwich
chicken nuggets/rice
spaghetti
Hot foods go in Foogo thermos

Grains are usually her energy/carb snack: cereal bar, scone, half a sandwich, teddy grahams
Or it's fruit.

We don't have to pack snacks for school but I did pack them over the summer for camp

I have a snack size Yumbox and would do fruit (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, apples, peaches/necterines, grapes, etc). And a small thing of cheese - she loves sharp white cheddar or a string cheese. You can also do trail mix with mixed nuts and a variety of mixed dried fruit - she loves dried mango, blueberroes, cherries, apricots and raisins. Sometimes I also do a handful of crackers

For lunch so far we've been packing:
Sandwich - so far she isn't tired of them but I think we may start adding pasta, quesadilla and brown rice to the rotation. I think she would be ok eating those at room temp.
Small protein - beans, cut up chicken, cut up hot dog, cut up ham, or cut up Italian sausage. Need some more ideas but I try not to stress bc she has eggs for breakfast and can have protein for lunch.
Small cracker - pirates booty, veggie sticks, goldfish, graham cracker or these white bean cheddar sticks that taste kind of like Cheetos
Fruit/veggie - usually berries, apples or oranges. For veggies we do cucumber, pickles, olives or carrots. Need some more ideas. I think steamed green beans would be easy and not too offensive to her :silly:

They serve water with snacks and milk with lunch

Tomorrow is LO1s first day of public preschool, and I have to pack 2 snacks, her drinks, and lunch. I really wanted an Omiebox, but they are backordered, so until I figure out what else I want to order, I can only pack cold foods. This is a struggle, because LO is used to eating hot lunches at home.

So far, for tomorrow I'm thinking:

snack 1: blueberries and ? maybe applesauce or a pouch?
Lunch: turkey/cheese sandwich, carrots and hummus, almond milk, a couple of M&Ms for a first day treat
snack 2: veggie sticks? or popcorn

I need ideas for the rest of the week--what are you guys packing?
