@mrbee: Hahaha! Keeping them alive is pretty important!

@TurtleDoves: I want to go out of my way to teach that too, especially when kids can be so mean.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: haha, W is social! Unlike E. She now likes other kids but really hates adults :( I can't wait for the day for her to show off her personality in front of people instead of acting uninterested.

@HLK208: that's so awesome :') I hope my son is like that. I never want him to feel less.

I am not there yet but I would be VERY proud if my kids knew about loving others and equality and did not judge. I don't want them to judge the less fortunate, or other races. We always grew up knowing to never look down on anyone. We also grew up with encouragement to try to be friends with all people. I wasn't allowed to say "but, she's not popular..." my mom made me invite ALL the kids to my birthday parties.

I love that Liam loves books. He will pick his favorites, hand them to me, and climb in my lap to listen to me read them while he points at things and turns the pages. As an English teacher, I'm pretty sure I can take credit for this.

What great kids we all have on HB! Manners are SO important to teach at a young age! love it!

For me, it's my son's empathy. Whenever one of us looks sad, he grabs our face with his hands and says "No crying. Happy!" and then strokes our face. Or if I bump my knee on the table and say "ouch!" he'll start rubbing it and say "Sowweee" (even though he didn't do anything). He also doesn't steal his friends' toys or food (he always asks first).

Wow that's great!!

I'm mostly proud/glad that the kids are still alive. Besides that, I'm also proud that Charlie loves to read... and that Olive seems to be really kind and loving.

@artbee: My son is also really good about that, and we get lots of nice feedback from both friends and strangers about it. :)
(he also says "Excuse me" all the time because they reinforce it a lot at daycare, which I find adorable)

That's awesome! What a mature little kid! My son gets embarrassed pretty easily, but his defense mechanism is just to laugh and be a clown about it.
I'm most proud of their sibling love. I'm not sure it's all my doing. My daughter is always thinking of his brother whenever she's playing or eating something. She has to make sure he gets or share or makes sure he's involved. My son has always been less so. today, I took him to get his haircut. They gave him a lollipop afterwards and he took two because he wanted one for his sister. I was so happy that he thought of her even though she wasn't there.

As a parent, I think I have taught my son to never feel embarrassed for what he says or does. I remember my parents laughing at things I did/said as a child and it made me feel so inferior.
But, today, DS was on a field trip with his preschool class and his lunch fell on the ground, it went everywhere. He said, "Opps. Oh well, it happens to everybody." which is his classic phrase. I was so proud of him because I remember being on a field trip when I was in preschool and I dropped an ice cream cone - I was embarrassed and felt clumsy. It was no big deal to him!

What is something you have taught your child that you are proud of?
