Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding. Not a book I'd pick up (the woman who recommended it to D said if he liked Firefly he'd love this book), but he loved it and asked me to read it and has been bugging me to start it, so I figured I could give it a shot.

@Mae: I am obsessed with WW2 historical fiction novels. I have two books I just got from the library this week that I'll be reading; All the light we cannot see and Girl at war. I really liked the book thief as well.

Also reading Burn the fat, feed the muscle. Ha.

@autumnlove: loved that one so I got the sequel- but it's moving really slow.

Recently read "All The Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr and "Everything I Never Told You" by Celeste Ng. Both were absolutely captivating!

Also just read "I Remember Nothing" by Nora Ephron for a lighter, quicker collection of essays. Definitely been on a summer reading binge.

I love anything Denis Lehane (esp the Kenzie & Gennaro series) and James Rollins (Sigma Series) They're fun reads with great characters.

I read the Orphan Train, I think I liked it, lol, but had to look it up to remember what it was about so must not have been that good!
Have you read The Girl on the Train? If you like murder mysteries you'll like that one. Similar style to Gone Girl. I finished that one last week.
The Martian I read recently as well, couldn't put it down!
Currently reading Graceling, but just started so no opinions yet.

@Mrs. Champagne: great taste-I read everything Lianne Moriarty wrote (Husband's Secret, Last Anniversary, What Alice Forgot, etc.) while I was nursing my son around-the-clock as a newborn. I also loved the Rosie Project and Effect!

@knittylady: Just read The Luckiest Girl Alive and Girl on the Train. Didn't much care for the former, and liked the latter but wasn't as obsessed with it as many others seem to be. Did you read Jodi Picoult's newest book, Leaving Time? Loved it. I'm waiting on a few digital library loans, one of which is Go Set a Watchman. Happy Reading!

I think it would be a better movie. It isn't that it wasn't a good story. The book just gets sooo much into his childhood and when he comes home and just.... it was too much IMO.
